So it's only about slavery if it's related to the morality of it? The economy of it doesn't count? OK.

It can be about both. It can also be about other various reasons that have nothing to do with it.

It's like a German walking around displaying the swastika. Yeah, we all get that it stood for more than racism, oppression, and gas chambers, and he may be proud of his nation's heritage, but it's still in poor taste.

For the record, he would be thrown in prison if he did this in Germany.

Oh yeah because we don't agree I should leave.

But I'm about to head home so you'll get your wish soon enough.

If a German wasa showing off a swastika, he/she is not German. Remember, the first country the Nazi party invaded was Germany, not Poland.

It was originally a Buddhist symbol of wealth and happiness

this thread went from what the Confederate Battle flag stood for, to EVERYONE IN THE SOUTH IS frickING RACIST AND IF YOU LIKE BEING FROM THE SOUTH YOU'RE A frickING RACIST TOO.

No one has said that. In fact I have gone out of my way to say the opposite.

I was born in Alabama. And while I value my claim to Texas more than being from the South, I am not going to advocate for the Confederate flag.

Doesn't mean I assume you're a racist for doing so. Just unnecessarily closing doors, IMO.

To the citizens, yes.

Just like to the average citizen in the South at that time, it wasn't about the morality of it. Doesn't make it any less wrong.

It's not because we don't agree. It's because you're incapable of following a simple conversation. You keep missing the point. And you've contributed nothing but name calling.

You're just not looking good in this thread at all

I mean before you got here bro. You normally keep a pretty level head about controversial issues

Also, I was exaggerating a tad to make my point.

Not true at all.

I realize this.

My analogy still stands because the symbol was coopted by the nation.

"Small government" is considered thinly veiled racism by many

Most other countries don't have the same rights of free speech and expression that we do.

The reason I got pissed is because you wouldn't even participate in the conversation. You had your mind made up before you ever got here. You claimed from the beginning everything was completely black/white (again, no pun intended) and there was no wiggle room whatsoever.

You are looking equally as bad.
