so UofL could basically kill any chance of an NBA team coming to Louisville? thats fricking retarded

Yep. Pitino has been super vocal about it. And Jurich pretty much strong armed the Louisville Arena Authority into giving UofL control of scheduling. It's why UK will never play an OOC game there (aside from vs. UofL) like they used to in Freedom Hall and why they won't bid for the SEC Tournament either.
They simply feel like they can't compete against a NBA team when it comes to fans.

Who came up with the contract between the Arena Authority and they City of Louisville and U of L? The city was fricking stupid in the way that they went about it and really screwed themselves, from what I've gathered.

Their hands were tied because of pull that big investors like Yum Brands had in terms of getting it invested and passed to begin with. Also a lot of false numbers thrown around in terms of what legitimate revenue would be from the stadium. UofL and Jurich have way more pull here then they ever should have.

Wow. Yep, that's the reason that the city of Louisville will never have anything more than a minor league baseball team.

Yep. And it's absolutely ridiculous because the city could sustain one. The Colonels were insanely popular here (my parents went to games all the time) in the 70s. If the Pacers weren't in a stronger TV market/larger city in Indy, Louisville would've had a NBA team back then.

I'm awake and contributing to steering the conversation away from louisville.
Is there anybody in there?

Is there anyone at home?
I have done that so many times late at night and have never gotten a call back. I apologize if I ever say anything negative about you in the future.

Did you happen to catch one of The Wall tour concerts last year? I didn't get one close enough to me but Insaw some videos a friend of mine took and it was absolutely unreal. The production and everything was off the charts. Is definitely a bucket list concert now.

The Colonels had the most viable team in the ABA. There was some shady story about how they folded. What happened again?
Posted on 6/19/13 at 1:44 am to CheeseburgerEddie
I did not, but heard it was awesome. I'm more of a Gilmour fan though.

Well he is a better technical musician. But if waters gets someone to shred in his place I'll take waters production and vision. But Either can make my dreams come true

Basically the NBA was only taking 4 teams and that was leaving 3 out of the mix. The Colonels and the Spirit (St. Louis) were both offered $3 million to fold. John Y Brown quietly took the money. He would've had to pay $3 million to join the NBA. He then used it to buy the Buffalo Braves (now your LA Clippers).

and the owner of the spirit of st louis still gets NBA revenue from TV contracts. something to do with what the agreed to in the sale of the team
Posted on 6/19/13 at 1:57 am to WestCoastAg
Yeah the Silnas (sp?) brothers wanted no part of the $3 million buyout, fought it, and ended up with that never ending revenue contract. Pretty crazy.

crazy how its stuck to. the NBA has fought it multiple times but lost every single time. they had a kick arse lawyer writing up the purchase documents
