My wife worked at a Vet when we were in grad school. One of their clients died and asked us to bring our dog to the funeral.
I kid you not - 100 people, 300 dogs showed up. It was pretty cool. I did not know the client, but I am sure she was happy. She was a big animal advocate.

We have two Great Pyrenees. Brother and sister same liter. Nixed the idea of using them for my Granddaughter’s wedding in November. First, the bride could ride Thor versus her being given away by Dad. But if a cat or squirrel walked by, all control would be lost.
UPS Driver wanted to ignore the flock sign, informing him to avoid the fence. “ Safe to come to you?”
“Best that you set the package down and let me come out …..they are excited and alert…..they don’t know you at all. Most likely nothing happens, but better to err on the of caution.”
The male hurdles 6 foot fencing with the grace of a thoroughbred. We spent $700 on a special GPS monitored collar to keep the young man in the fence. Boy wants to eat UPS Trucks and School Buses. Most gentle massive dogs I’ve been around. However, we are used to them and have no fear. Mutual respect.

Of course it's fine as long as the hosting family is cool with it.
Why not?
