holy shite he was only 60 feet out. That's creepy

And pretty common. You'd be shocked at the shite that's in shallow ocean water.

In a semi related story, I have a good friend who lost his leg below the knee because he was born without a knee cap. Whenever we'd go out to the bars he'd tell chicks he had been attacked by a shark. Never failed him. Years later he went ahead and got a tattoo on the opposite calf with a shark that had a leg in it's mouth.

When I was living in NJ, a beluga whale was in the Delaware River near Trenton. We went to go see it. I think they captured it somewhere in New York but I could be wrong. Late morning csb

I was swimming with my cousin near Jacksonville and she started yelling at me because I was bumping into her and she said it hurt. As she realized I was nowhere near her, she got RAMMED really hard. We started screaming and swam back to the shore. Right after that, we saw some baby hammerheads and they made everyone get out of the water.

Her whole leg was bruised and scraped.

me and my buddy and his girlfriend were on vacation in an area that is well known for sharks. the girl decided she wanted to be funny and jumped in the water. My buddy just started laughing and I was like WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? GET OUT.

Next thing you know he spots the shark behind her, he reaches over and pulls her up just as the shark swims to where she was. I remember being angry at both of em lol.

I've had a lemon shark get too close while fishing the flats for Bones in the Bahamas. Actually chased the bone I had hooked all over the place. I'm not sure how I didn't get tangled in the mangroves.

Another buddy I was fising with poked his fly rod down at a shark that came too close, and it bit the tip of his flyrod off. We were told later to grab sand off the bottom and throw it in their direction underwater and they would leave you alone.

I always get in the water when I got to the beach and the last 3 or 4 times I've had to get out cause there was a shark nearby. I don't ever get too far out so it's scary to think that the sharks are hanging out on the shallow side of the sand bar. If you're in Panama City, you should always be on the lookout for sharks. Can't even begin to tell you how many my friends and I have seen over the years. If you really wanna freak yourself out, go parasailing and look for all the sharks swimming up close to shore. Terrifying.

Yeah, people are blissfully unaware of just how many sharks are out near the second breaker.

I've never been attacked. But I did go swimming with nurse sharks when i was on vacation in Belize. The guide baited them with fish, and wrestled with them. I watched. The guide also kept an eye out to be sure no more serious predators came along. It was really interesting, but those are some tame sharks.

My boyfriend had a friend that died from a bull shark bite when he was diving.

during a swim call on the sub in an undisclosed location. A tiger shark swam by and bumped one of the officers said officer stuck his head under the water to see what it was and then screamed out "THAT'S A BIG FISH!". we all scrambled on the sub and drove a direction for 30 mins and ate bbq then jumped back in with out having another visit from our little friend.

Had a close encounter swimming back from the 2nd sandbar in Santa Rosa 3 summers ago. I was about 100 yards offshore when I saw a woman on the beach yelling, jumping up and down, and pointing out towards me to my left. I turned and saw the fin about 50 yards away. I've never swam faster nor been more terrified in my life. I was dry heaving and talking to one of the umbrella rental guys after I made it ashore and said he sees fins all the time and they're usually just 3-4 foot sand or thresher sharks. Very reassuring.
