Not only do I have 3 sweet tats (two on my shoulder and one on my back, all of which are not visible when wearing a tshirt), I also have 10 brands. One brand is a large design on my chest. All brands were done myself with a red hot fork and spoon.
I started branding when I considered rushing a black fraternity. My roommate (and long time best friend) was from Nigeria. He was a member of that fraternity and I spent a lot of time with them. Branding became almost a sport and masculinity test that oftentimes took place during extremely drunken frat parties. Good times!
That is just a small part of my overall crazy college experience...

As a teen, I really wanted a tattoo.
My dad always told me that if I got a tattoo, he would literally cut it off of me. Dad always held to his word....tattoo free.
As I've grown older, I just don't see the point in most of them. There are some that make sense. Family members who died. I know someone who tattoo'd the names of people who died in a car crash (said he needed to carry them with him). Those I get.
I do have business partners who refuse to associate with people who have visible tattoos.
I did have a female friend who made the best tramp stamp argument ever...."you cant get an epidural with a tramp stamp, and I'm sure as heck not going through that shite naturally"

FWIW, I'd take a brand over a tattoo....of which I am not getting either.

Tattoo = more sex
Tattoo + good sized scars = even more sex
Tattoo + good sized scars + getting remarried = dramatic decrease in sex!

I got a couple.
They have no deep, personal meanings.
It just occasionally got knockdown drunk and if I were within walking distance of a tattoo place, I'd walk in and scribble something on a piece of paper and say put this on me.
