Argyle's New Stadium Debut Game
The Eagles debuted their new $27 million, 7,500-seat stadium Friday night, welcoming a capacity crowd for a season-opening matchup against Oak Ridge of El Dorado Hills, California.
“This is amazing,” Argyle coach Todd Rodgers said. “I remember looking up (during the game) and I thought it was a full stadium and I thought it was impressive.”
There was only one thing missing from the celebration: a victory.
Oak Ridge rallied with two touchdowns in the final 3½ minutes to spoil the stadium's debut with a one-point victory over the Class 5A No. 2-ranked Eagles.
“We are very appreciative of it," added Rodgers. "Those people that worked hard on the bond package, we got the opportunity to recognize them tonight. Winning would’ve just been gravy on top.”
Excuse me coach, if I am not mistaken winning the opening game in the new stadium would not have been "gravy on the top", it was EXPECTED!

didnt realize argyle had grown so much. went there once about 20 years ago and wasn't much there

That's really not much of a high school stadium. Looks like a Walmart past days sale.

Yeah folks around here are crazy about high school football. Allen still has the most impressive stadium for one high school, and their marching band is even more impressive than the stadium if you can believe that. The football team ain't half bad either.

Yeah, that whole DFW Metroplex has been expanding for a long time. I bet within 20 years Denton gets swallowed up in it. Have inlaws in the area and go up there every 5 years or so. Damn place keeps growing. Seems like South Dallas is at Hillsboro now. Saw some expansion plans for loop 635 north Dallas portion years ago. Plans include 12 overhead lanes over existing. Something crazy like that.

It's always jammed up on 635 between 75 and the tollway going both directions. Really all the way west to 35.

Allen Stadium. Here's what $60,000,000 2010 dollars would get you. 18k capacity and serves and owned by one school. For a while Allen was renting the stadium to a professional soccer team.

i think argyle was 2A last i was there. More of a podunk community that was really peaceful

60m/18k -> $3,333 per seat in 2010
incl. inflation -> $5,100 per seat in 2026 for Allen
27m/7.5k -> $3,600 per seat in 2026 for Argyle

And that probably doesn't include all of the concrete work that Allen had to do after the initial stadium failed.
