Because like I said it’s a double standard. If this was someone’s daughter we’d want the death penalty when it’s your son and he’s banging some hot teacher it’s a right of passage.

Yet I think most people would agree with this double standard.

i think female teachers in thier mid 20's up to maybe 50 yrs old just lose thier minds ...They teach all day read all day and they get horny ..up here in Ohio a female gym teacher was banging the basketball team in the high school .. now banging is one thing but how they get caught is????????????????????????? drum roll please***** text messages!!!!! for example this gym teacher was texting the high school boys she drilled and was saying how much she loved their twig and berries ,THUS , she was caught pretty easily ..so my advice to ANY TEACHER ..if you re going to drill your students , no texting ..you will have more fun longer and may never get caught if you keep it to drilling just one or 2 of your favorites not 8 or 9 ...just my advice

a seventh-grade math teacher

She teaches the 7th grade. That doesn't mean the victim is in the 7th grade.

It could be a 7th grader, but Brooks High School is 7-12th grades. It may well be that she's involved with someone in a higher grade.

The age of consent in Alabama is 16, but that doesn't apply to teachers when they're involved with a student in their school system even if the student isn't in one of their classes.

You'll know soon enough. If the student isn't in her class and is 16+, her defense attorney will argue that the law is unconstitutional. It never works, but they all try it.

Maintaining a teaching certificate in Alabama and many other states carries the legal obligation to not have a romantic relationship with a student.

It’s constitutional because it is a right/privilege that is deliberately waived as a condition for employment in an Alabama public school.

Yeah, apparently they didn't exist in the early 1980s.

Correct, which is why it never works even though they always try it.

ETA: It's relatively important at least to me in how I view the event. If she's banging a 7th grader, she's as much a perv as the guy with a terabyte of kiddie pron and deserves the same level punishment.

If, on the other hand if she's 27 and banging an 18 year old middle linebacker that she never taught, it's still a crime. She still deserves a conviction with a short sentence and never be allowed back in the classroom but she ain't exactly a threat to society.

If the student is in your school system, even if they’re 17 or 18 or 19, you can’t have a relationship with them if you are a teacher.

Not all professionals, only school teachers.

You as the 16, 17, or 18 year old can bang them all you want, but if you bang a teacher in your school system and it gets out they're going to get arrested and fired. You as a student face no repercussions at all other than to get beat up by the other fellas that were also hitting the tramp that got fired because you bragged about it.

It gets iffy if a teacher is messing with a student that doesn't go to school where they teach or in their system. I'm pretty sure I remember at least one case where the defense successfully argued that the law didn't apply because there was never anything close to a student/teacher relationship.
