Physically, yes.. But some people will imply they took up residence there.

Hypothetical - if I fly to Thailand and get on a different plane in Tokyo, but never leave the airport...does that count as a visit? Can I say that I've been to Japan in a conversation with someone? The same thing goes for US states.
Here's an actual. I've never spent a night in Idaho (one of three states I haven't slept in), but I spent the better part of a day there sightseeing, including a visit to the dunes. Is that enough to check a state off a list, even though I've never spent a night there?

No, it would be like counting kisses as actually having sex.

For inside the US:
If flying: Did you leave the airport. airports by themselves don't count.
If driving: did you get out of the car.
For outside the US:
Feet on the ground. Airports count.

Having done this multiple times, no.
You were probably making a connection for a flight to your final destination - that's the country that the visit counts towards.

Technically, your feet never touched the ground. You probably walked around on an elevated concourse, didn't experience a single thing about that country and looked for food options that were American as shite.
Just a guess.

If by this you mean "looked for bourbon", then yes.

Have you never seen The Terminal? Airport definitely doesn't count.

I think airports count, but it requires clarification.
"Have you ever been to Boston?"
"Yes, but I only flew through so I don't know s--t about the place."
My rationale is that if you had a massive heart attack and died while you were in the airport, it would be stated that you were born in city x and died in "Boston". You have been there, but you haven't spent any quality time there. Just my pov.
