That's how good the trails have gotten here. Inside the city limits, in a city park, Olympic hopefuls will be vying for a trip to Tokyo.

I honestly didn't know that mountain biking was an Olympic sport.
My lawn. Get off it. You will.

Well to be fair, I didn't either. It more attests to the quality of what the Waltons have helped to fund here. It isn't mediocre. It's top-shelf stuff, which is incredible considering what was here just 15 years ago as far as mountain biking goes.
We had it, but it was fringe and most of it was in remote locations. Now we have world-class stuff right inside town.
I'm a novice, and I value my knees, so I don't do it much. But you can't swing a dead cat in Fayetteville without hitting a mountain biking bro.

Driving through Arkansas is incredibly jarring, there is incredible wealth divides there. And I drive through ESTL every weekend.

Culturally and economically speaking NW Arkansas is almost its own little state. Hell Western Arkansas as a whole is radically different from Eastern Arkansas. We are a weird, but lovable, state.

I’ve been pining to spend a week in Hot Springs and smallmouth fishing on the rivers around it.

My hometown was the murder capital of our nation, until prohibition warped crime in our country so drastically and permanently.

There's a great book about it that was published last year.

Yes and governor Orval Faubus would get kickbacks from the crime in Hot Springs.

Breaking: Fayetteville becomes the first US city named "Bike City" by some international bike org or something.

This weekend. They never stop adding cool stuff to this city. When the Fayetteville Traverse is completed this year, this mountain biking park (hosting this weekend's events) will be connected to Kessler Mountain, and Markham Hill (adjacent to UA campus). Nearly 50 miles of really world-class mountain biking trails in SW Fayettevile. Students can jump on this stuff literally from their dorm rooms on campus. And there are already 50 miles of paved walking/cycling trails in the city trail system, too.
