When did hate speech become unacceptable?
Hmm, I'd say sometime in the 80s.

What?
I'm all for gay rights and I'm not very religious. But the man can say whatever he wants. It's his right.

Parades.
So Mardi Gras parades where women show their breasts for beads isn't "flaunting"?
Sex and sexuality, heterosexual or otherwise, is a common theme in all sorts of expression. You all act as if this is surprising.

Correct, he can say whatever he wants. And A&E can choose to keep him off the show for doing such.

Um, that's one parade, at one time of year, in one city (only NO gets as wild as you're describing on a regular basis). And that's not even the purpose of the parade. Not even close to the same thing, but nice try.

His right is not being violated.

I hold onto the fervent hope that eventually we'll come around to having straight pride parades with naked sloots acting lewdly on floats.

You know as well as anyone else that the gay community can get away with much more. Had a gay person made remarks about how a butthole feels better than a vagina or even an atheist saying something negative in an interview about Christians, nobody would bat an eye.
They'd claim freedom of speech.
I may not agree with Phil but he's entitled to his opinion.

Hate speech in GQ isn't protected by the first amendment.

Hardly hate speech.

A&E can do whatever they want but he doesn't deserve this backlash IMO. He made a joke about vaginas and then said homosexuality is a sin.
Who cares? He's an old man and one of a few million who believe that.

I realize there's no perfect apples to apples comparison to gay pride parades, and if that's what you're going to pick nits over then, well, you're wasting your time.
My point is that sex and sexuality is ever present in our day to day lives, particularly in media and entertainment. It's only "flaunting" to you when it's gay sex that's in the mainstream. You'd probably never call something like this...
..."flaunting" of sexuality (even though it's sexy as frick).
