I wish they'd just quit fricking around and legalize it. Marijuana prohibition is a fricking ploy to keep raking in the dollars. Make no mistake about that, pot's illegal because it brings in more revenue - right now anyway - being illegal than it would if it was just OK'd across the board.
Sure there is the potential for weed to pay off for the gov in a big way as a legal substance, but it's more a case right now of one in the hand being better than two in the bush. They are already making a shite ton of money just from weed being illegal, and changing that is a risk.
And anyone who thinks weed is just bad and wrong or anything at all like alcohol, or just about any other drug for that matter, is either very misguided or just plain fricking stupid.

they do but I was way more worried abut this thread going into the same ole look at all the drugs I've done circle jerk. However clearly i'm not uninformed enough to hate on pot properly.

Gotcha. Interestingly it's the Bama and LSU posters that seem to revel in comparison of hard drug usage. Those 2 fanbases don't post on the OTB much since this is a play nice board.

I smoked regularly for about 10 years but once the children came along and got old enough to get into stuff, I gave it up. Didn't need them finding a bag or pack of papers and asking questions I didn't want to answer. Will still burn one every once in a great while under the right circumstances with the right people. I have no long term effects from my use of it and have no clue why it's illegal. It's a plant, created by God, that only has to be harvested and dried down to be used. No additives, no preservatives. If God gave it to us, we should be able to partake of it.
