Do We Live in a Simulated Universe?

It's an interesting question that has been posed by thinkers going all the way back to Plato. I hear that we have science nerds these days trying to find ways to test this hypothesis, but I think the answer is staring us all in the face this very moment. Our computers.
There is an experiment being ran right now I believe where some nerds are trying to simulate a universe in a laboratory. So, the question is, will our computers ever be advanced enough to simulate a universe with enough detail that the simulated life forms are self aware? I think they will. And at that point, I think it becomes a mathematical probability that we, too, live inside a simulation just like the one we are seeking to create.

We've already begun the transition into our next stage of evolution -- androids. It's not too farfetched we'll have programs so advanced that we'll even be able to trick it into thinking that it's all real.
We already do everything we possibly can to escape the agony of existence, so hopefully it will come to the point where we can and that we do not slip into the aether when it comes time to choose the future of our realm and race.

Nobody is saying someone is going to be able to get on their Dell brand desktop and code a simulation capable of producing self aware people on a simulated Earth.
It's obviously going to take a leap in computer technology to get to that point. But I'm confident we will get there.

What BoarEd proposes would called an *open ended* simulation. This simulation has no outside constraints.

There's also the idea that we live within a natural, holographic reality. No God even intended.
Wherein, our universe (what we can see of it), exists beyond the event horizon on the inside wall of a black hole. The result is a hologram. But how do we make sense of this hologram if our consciousness is local?

You have answered your own question.
The universe on the macro scale seems to have no constraints-at least the observable part we can view and analyze.
There may be constraints on the quantum level since we are limited in our ability to observe events that occur beneath a certain point in quantum mechanics.
For example were I to separate the two down quarks and the one up quark that compose a neutron, I would never be able see them. The energy of the photon of light used to actually view them would be enough to cause the particles to immediately recombine.

I, too, went through a period of my life wherein I considered the validity of the paranormal and the supernatural. Luckily I already had a good science background and, using the scientific method as my sword, I cut through the murkiness and found that reductionism is the only way to find out how something works. When I apply that tool to a paranormal or supernatural concept, it always reveals a human construct.
