On ice?

How dare you water down high quality bourbon.

Fair enough. I do like it chilled though and I don't always have a frozen river stone. A large ice block works well. If I am drinking Blantons or Pappy I am not mixing it's go to be neat, if it is Woodford or comparable I'll go with ice.

Basil Hayden dark rye is my current favorite whiskey though.

Do like. My favorite is Booker's, but the BH dark rye is really good.

Can't drink any bourbon or scotch with ice. Always neat at room temperature.

If I'm going mixed drinks - sure, ice is fine. But I can't stand straight whiskey of any kind with ice.

Splash of water releases the guaiacol molecules in the whiskey which releases more flavors and scents. It makes good whiskeys even better.

I've tried it and it does not work for me. Just makes the whiskey taste watered down and cheap.

To each their own, I guess.

OE is classier than Colt, but agree on Mickey’s. It’s a mixture of the wide mouth that allows for maximum swillage and the green decanter that bespeak of refined class.

Agreed, but I’ve found that it does work if you use a cask strength scotch like the Nadurra

Single malt is better, but bourbon is still better than every other alcohol option. So, not arse... just not single malt.

Sorta like comparing a high 8 vs. low 9 hot chick... sure one is "better", but why not enjoy both?
