I have not
but there used to be a Ken's BBQ House that had amazing breakfast in Fultondale - burned down (insurance deal)?) about 10 or so years ago
I wonder if it is the same people?
I will check it out - thanks

If you want the best Italian you're gonna get in the Bham area go try Joes Italian in Alabaster
Joe's is good, but I can think of 3 or 4 places in Birmingham with better Italian food. GianMarco's, Amore, Bettola, Trattoria Centrale. Giuseppe's used to be good, but I haven't eaten there in 10-15 years.

Yes
My 1st job in AL was selling YP ads for an off market phone book company - we had a N Jefferson County phone book - we had trade with Ken’s and then we worked a trade deal with Doodle’s
That place did not last long
And I will drive up 79 to eat at Ken’s - thanks for the answer

GianMarco's
Is fantastic for higher end
Everyday Italian?
Hard to beat Salvatore Bambinelli - Salvatore’s Pizza is amazing; especially his pasta dishes
He also had Bambinelli’s in Mt Brook (English Village) as a higher end place (did not last long there)
Interesting story - there are at least 3 Salvatore’s (maybe 4? Hoover on 31, Hoover on 150 and Hoover/Inverness on 280)
TWO of those restaurants are owned and operated by TWO different ex wives of Sal...

knew the old owner at Bluff Park/Tip Top - great guy, played HS baseball for Vestavia- new owners have done a nice job at both places
Bob is awesome. I know everybody involved with Tip Top going back to it's inception pretty well.
The current owner, Curt Reamer, is the father of Cory Reamer who started at LB for Bama in 08 and 09.
Its been a loooong time since I've been to Homewood Diner. Been a while since I've been to Ranch House too, but I was always a fan.

You must've known Jerry then...good friend of the family
The Fultondale location didn't last long (thanks to the tornado as previously mentioned) his original location on Richard Arrington Blvd in Birmingham (on that corner where the pizza place is now up from Zeke's...which was originally the Fish Market) had been there for years until the rent went up and he wouldn't pay it so he moved out
In Birmingham he served a lunch buffet though and all locals working at the different hospitals & UAB etc came in and he did a ton of business.
After the Tornado hit and tore the building apart, he took what insurance money gave him, sold the equipment to other Fultondale businesses and moved out of the country
He's back in Fultondale now though.....Jerry is a very interesting and fun individual
