That is really cool.

Flew as the co-pilot with the squadron CO in the El Toro airshow. We were doing the aerial refueling demo with a C-130 (I flew CH-53Es out of MCAS Tustin, which was right across the 405 from El Toro. Was going to be an easy hook up, drag across the crowd, then disconnect and land. Except when it was time to hook up with the basket, our refueling probe wouldn't extend. That would normally be an auto abort, but this was for an airshow. The old man decided to stick with it; which meant that the basket was up under our rotor arc for the connection. Even though it was a dry hookup (we weren't going to actually transfer fuel over a crowd), that was still close to the hairiest thing I ever had happen while flying. It doesn't sound like much unless you were in the 53E community, but I bet I sweat 10lbs off during the 8-9 minutes we were hooked up. The old man must've,too, because as soon as we were free from the basket he gave me the controls.

understand the role rotor blades play in the act of flying. And just how precarious the entire system. Yikes, yea definitely high level pucker factor.

Blue angels flexing on us while I was moving some materials across the river last year. This is probably the best clip I have, but they buzzed us a few times. This was the only time they rolled 180. I want to say it was a Thursday practice before an airshow type situation.

That's badass, especially from a clip that you recorded yourself.

We had just been joking we were no better than people filming fireworks, because none of our videos were truly reflecting how awesome our free show was.

That maneuver is a signal for you to put your clothes back on. Why you neeked on your boat?

Seriously cool though.

I have been in countless chinooks and blackhawks.

One time I got to do CLS training requiring assistance and care to injured soldiers while enroute on the bird and that was fun. We pretty much put our seat belts on and the pilot did some flips for us.

Hell yeah man. When I worked in Tucson our facility was next to Davis Monthan. CONSTANT F16s, C-130s, Blackhawks... I'll never forget the first time I saw the C-17 in flight... holy shite is that a HUGE aircraft.

These guys would fly directly over our building so close that you could see the pilots and they'd wave.

Every time the fighter jets took off, all the car alarms in the parking lot would go off.

People don't realize how LOUD those things are

Auburn is super close (air mileage wise) to Columbus and Ft. Benning. I can't count the number of times we would get Ranger Blackhawks flying over campus and the town. Sometimes they would be at treetop level and just cruising along. I remember coming out of my apartment and one was practically in a hover above the parking area. Guys hanging out the door, just looked up and waved.

Probably the coolest thing I have seen was when Bush 43 spoke at AU as a campaign stop for the local Republican House member for the 2002 election season. Got to see the Sikorsky whitetops fly over as he came in, and then a Chinook (guess it was carrying the Beast and other motorcade vehicles) flying out after it was over.

I was bumped from a commercial flight in Tokyo. Got put on a C-17 cargo flight from Tokyo to Seattle. 12 hours ....

About 20 minutes out of Tokyo, Pilot comes from the cockpit ...."Where are you headed?" "Going back to take a nap" "Can I go up and sit up front?" "Can't see anything, but go ahead ....'

He lied, I could see ships in the Pacific lit up as we zoomed along. Co Pilot was pretty cool about the whole trip..

Edwards was great. Thunderbirds every day. SR-71, U2

Best overall I could never figure out. We were practicing for a Baseball Game at Cross Bayou, Florida and I looked up. Coach came and stood with me ...."Ever see this before?" "Only place I can imagine they are going is Nicaragua." One B-52, then four F-111's, then 4 B-52's, then four F-111's, we watched those guys go overhead for 30 minutes ....Finally told the coach "I'll find out tonight, but I'll tell you someone is pissed to send all that firepower south." That night I called Dad ......he called back..."You're right, The President is pissed."

That one scared the heck out of me. That was not THAT far past 9/11 and that was one ugly plane. I swear I thought it was headed for the upper deck.

Awesome dude! Yeah you're right about the president stuff... Air Force One flew into Tucson at that same base and it was HUGE... followed by an array of different aircraft in tow/perimeter.

The other cool thing I saw a few years ago was the Blue Angels/Thunderbirds healthcare work Covid flight. My office at the time had a parking deck that was right smack in the middle of the flight path that took them from the Atlanta VA up to Northside at 285/400. We went and parked on the top deck and just stood there and they came right in front of us.

They weren't doing aerobatics, just flying in formation, but it was still cool to see them flying and popping smoke.

Apparently some folks in north Georgia were able to see them refueling from tankers as they came down I-75.

I remember it too, and there being some controversy about how low they were (especially with the cranes), but I don't recall them coming over us at 500 mph.
