You should have seen Destin and 30A forty years ago. Uncluttered, undespoiled paradise.

Forty years ago you would get to the apex of the Perdido Pass bridge eastbound and see the Flora-Bama. Which was only a small redbrick bar/liquor store with a walkover to the beach.

Destin area and beaches are nice, but Gulf Shores/Orange Beach have the same beautiful white sands. I do not know what your problem is, or what axe you have to grind with the Alabama beaches, but you have some agenda or a bias that is driving your comparison between Destin and Gulf Shores.

Having visited beaches on the US West coast, US East coast and several places in the world I do agree with your comments relative to other beaches; none of them compare to the Gulf of Mexico beaches.

The OP appears to be an Ole Miss fan and more than likely from Mississippi. I suspect he/she resents the fact that despite the fact the state of Alabama in general has a poor reputation amongst the states and despite it having the smallest coastline amongst the Deep South states it's relatively small coastline sh### all over his state's much longer coastline when it comes to overall beach quality and number of annual visitors.

If you're a cheerleader for your home state it would get old constantly hearing about how your home state doesn't measure up in any particular area when it comes to natural beauty, etc...hence his or her's bagging on Alabama's modest coastline

Chadr07, I haven't heard Pineville in a long long time, I used to visit family in Pineville back in the 1940s, we had to pass by the Funny Farm to get to their house.

It's likely wives wanting the right sticker on the back windshield. The kids DGAF, but pizza for four doesn't cost $200, either. I grew up on East coast beaches, and would never, ever, call that a beach trip in comparison to the Gulf, anywhere (largely why I'm a lake and not beach dude.)

30A is a marketing bonanza, and will likely be the reason other people's kids will be asking for student loan forgiveness in a few years.

Yes, you can get pizza for $60 for 4 if you drive a mile from Watercolor, but you're on the beach, nobody wants to rinse or order delivery, blah blah. 30A is the Kardashian of beaches. Besides, Orange Beach gets a USCG flyover at least once a day, including Fat Albert from the Blue Angels on occasion.

TL;DR: The kids don't care about 30A, moms do.
