You must never been to Destin area. Take Daytona the water is always creek brown and the sand is brown.

None of this is true
I have been to beaches from Bethany Beach, Deleware to Daytona, Florida.
Bethany Beach, Ocean City, Maryland, Virginia Beach, Murrells Inlet, SC, Myrtle Beach, Isle of Palms, SC are all fine.Hilton Head beaches sucked IMHO.
The Florida panhandle is way overrated.

I wonder where someone super successful like Nick Saban would choose to buy a home on the beach in the SEC footprint? I am sure he would try and make it as close to Tuscaloosa as possible right? He certainly wouldn't choose to travel farther to a worse beach, would he?
On 2nd thought, y'all just stay your arse in the panhandle. It's getting too crowded down here.

You can basically extend "Destin" from Ft. Walton to the west and Panama City Beach to its east. Same basic look.
When you say Tampa area I know you're referring to St. Pete Beach, but are you including Lido key? I haven't been there in 30 years but I recall that water being a gorgeous near royal blue rather than sea foam green.

Destin beaches are beautiful, but it's way too flipping crowded for my crew. 5 and 6 rows deep on the sand, waiting an hour to get a table for some mid seafood, and passing thousands to go for a walk on the beach is not for us.
We love St George's. No nightlife and few restaurants, but I find the nights in with a game of 42 a better option. It also helps that we are a family of foodies and everyone is probably a better cook than most "chefs" with some culinary degree. We get what's fresh and local and prep some exceptional meals.
A daybreak walk on the sand for a couple of miles with the Mrs is practically therapeutic.

But you said "Anything on the Atlantic side nasty water and brown sand." And this is simply not true.
And while Jax beach is medicore at best, the sand and water are not brown.

It's the same thing in Clearwater. Seems like it's that way with any decent beach.
Which is why I only ever go to the beach when people visit.

This just isn't true.
My personal favorite place on the Atlantic side is Emerald Isle, North Carolina.
In the pic below, the Atlantic is on the left....Bogue Sound on the right. Beautiful beaches and a wonderful place to visit.

The coast in Georgia , South and North Carolina is gross and ghetto

Fifteen minutes south of Clearwater and the beaches are as good without the people.
Same with north of Clearwater. Go up to Dunedin and honeymoon Island, the beaches are better and far fewer people.

Lido Beach is actually nicer than siesta key but it's right off a shopping center so it's hard to get into

Is the water in Destin really that different from PCB?
Posted on 6/22/24 at 12:12 pm to TheFourHorsemen
Siesta key gets my vote. Went couple years ago used to go all the time o fort walton but that whole Clearwater and below scene is great

Pretty much the same minus the PCB trash and smell. The sand is whiter but still not as white as siesta/lido.

Jax Beach is ghetto.
I've always loved Crescent Beach on the Atlantic side.

Been in Florida for a long time. Naples up to Dunedin is the best there is. Panhandle is 2nd. Jacksonville Beach down through madierra 3rd. After that it's mostly disappointing.
Key West is great but the beaches are meh. Miami beaches are a mess.
