Oh, well in that case it's perfectly understandable that he would break his service vow, abandon his post, seek comfort with the enemy, and jeopardize the lives of the people who served with him.

Oh, for Pete's sake, why does every slimeball take the, "I was abused" route? It doesn't matter what happens to you in life. Rather, your character is determined by how you deal with it.
