Anyone else listening to this testimony? Man, talk about gripping accounts of what went down.

Heads are gonna roll.

Eta: I spent many years doing security work all over the world in my younger, post service related, career.

What I have heard so far, and I am being very unbiased here - non-political - but what I am hearing is that there were some serious serious errors in judgement and the decision making process.

They've talked a lot about bringing help out of Aviano, Italy. I was stationed in Vicenza for years, worked out of Aviano for both the Marine barracks attack in Beirut and during our police actions in Kosovo ... and I can tell you first hand that we could have had help to them in Benghazi inside of two hours.

This proverbial shite is absolutely gonna hit the fan over these hearings.

So, as I am listening they are referencing the Foreign Emergency Support Team, we called it the Rapid Deployment Group or Rapid Deployment Force (RDG or RDF) when I was serving over there. Reagan had us on the ground in Beiruit in two and a half hours after the bombing and we were already in RDF1 mode - all of the support teams rotated on and off different levels of RDF from 1 down to 6. If you were on level 1 then you already had your bags packed and ready to roll and ammo would be waiting on the planes by the time we were chuted-up and loading our sticks for the jump.

The issue in this case is that the RDF force in AFRICOM, (who my old roommate was the ranking CSM just before the Benghazi event happened, he had just retired), but evidently somewhere up the Chain of Command when AFRICOM put the RDF1 group on full alert ... someone up above ordered them to "stand down."

Therein lies where this is going to get interesting because once they figure who gave that stand down order, and it had to be someone either on the Joint Chiefs or the Chairman himself, then the shite is going to hit the fan.

Now, will the Chairman fall on his sword, or is he going to come forward and say he was ordered to issue the stand down order from either the Sec of State or the POTUS.

That is where this is going - I can tell from the testimony and the questioning so far - that is where this is going in a hurry. The question is going to be, from where did the stand down order originate.

Had the RDF 1 group been deployed, and I used to be a member so I know, they would have rained hell on the terrorists and completely shut down that attack within two hours.

The other main issue is obviously going to be who issued the "it was a video that caused the spontaneous riots" talking points that Susan Rice went on all the Sunday news shows with.

When the Benghazi consulate was overrun and one of our Ambassadors was killed back in September it is apparent that the Administration knew what was happening, had options to send teams to be there in a couple of hours, but chose not to. The teams would have been there in time to stop the deaths from all appearances.

The issue comes from, why was the order not given to protect American citizens when the SoS and President were both aware of the situation? It looks bad as the President went to bed and woke up the next morning to go to a fundraiser and the SoS said (and clung to the notion for months) that the attack was in response to Youtube video when it was in fact not.

The bottom line is that someone lied to cover-up something ... and it cost us four good American lives.

We, as Americans, have always known that when we go into battle we will not be left-out hanging in the wind with no backup, no support.

In this case they let these people die. It could have been avoided.

I was on the flightline on Pope Airfield/Fort Bragg loading JSOC personnel and equipment that night on a C-17. At first my loadteam was surprised seeing as we were forecasted to not have any missions that night, so we knew something was going down. One of us looked up CNN on our phones and the breaking news was Benghazi.

Partisan version:

Democrats- Republicans fault because the budget was cut for State Department. Cover for Hilary and Obama.

Republicans- Trying to figure out why the video was pushed. This is all Obama and Hilary's fault.

R's are at least asking about what happened.

D's have hardly asked anything at all. They've used their time to blame funding, that wasn't even cut at the time, and used the NYT to justify Rice's youtube vid blame.

I don't care about Benghazi, because the leftist media keeps telling me over and over that I shouldn't care about Benghazi.
