biggest issue was when they sent a veritable army to fight and potentially die in battle so that a scientist/doctor could work to save the life of 1 guy who is not even really human

also, Dr Strange does something towards the end that is grossly out of character for him and for any super hero for that matter - like a big WTF type decision

I agree with the first part, that made no sense.

For the Dr Strange thing remember that he saw all possible outcomes and then said it had to be this way.

Would I need to watch any (or all) of the Marvel movies to know what's going on?
You would want to watch some of them to know the characters and their dynamics, where some of the infinity stones are located, their power, etc. But you wouldn't need to see all 19. I've seen most of them, but I haven't seen Black Panther, Spiderman, skimmed through Thor: Dark World, only about half of Age of Ultron. You don't need to see The Incredible Hulk. GOTG 2 doesn't really have much to do with Infinity War, but it was a good movie.

We can make a better list of what you need to see, but I'm just saying that you don't need to see them all.

I would catch Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther to set the stage. Also would recommend Dr. Strange because he has a significant role.

Some people like both Guardian of the Galaxy movies and they provide some background about Thanos and events off Earth but they aren't necessary. The movie fills in the casual fan for the most part.

That's good. I don't think I realized how many there were.

Thor: Ragnarok pretty much ends 30 minutes before Infinity War starts.

I mentioned that I haven't seen Black Panther, but I felt that Avengers: Civil War set up the Black Panther character and Wakanda well enough and it shows why a lot of the Avengers start off Infinity War at odds.

Did not see Civil War, but probably will rent it

One thing that has not been mentioned that I did think was pretty interesting / cool - when Banner called Steve Rogers, he dialed an Atlanta phone number (678 area code)

That surprised me...

Lots of films are, but why would Captain America have an Atlanta phone number?

Would have expected to see a 212 area code

It just got my attention...

It's just something that not many people will pay attention to, and even fewer will know where a random area code is from. Just a little nod to where most of the filming took place.

so - to give you an idea, my 2 favorite super hero movies, or the best ones I have seen, were Doctor Strange & Wonder Woman

Thank you for being upfront so I disregard your film opinions.

Dont read this post if you dont want to be spoiled.

Doctor strange said he viewed an assload of possible ways this could end , with only one making them the victors. Thats why he did what he did.

For you to call a movie bad based on your own lack of paying attention is foolish.

this was already addressed, I acknowledged this exact point on page 1 (6th post) without giving the spoiler & also addressed in the 1st post on page 3 (with the spoiler by David the Gnome)

eta - I actually addressed the Dr Strange point in the post you replied to...

Agreed. I watched this the other day and it was pretty bad. Affleck is a terrible Batman.

*pushes glasses up on nose*

You kidding me? Affleck's Batman and Wayne is closer to the source material than any other actor has done.

I dont care for the source material. The Dark Knight trilogy's Batman was so much better because it was allowed to become an actual modern movie. American superheroes are by and large pretty lame and remind me a lot of professional wrestling with the themes and costumes etc. The superheroes in the Infinity War were allowed to shed a lot of that which made for a better movie.
