I would just mention this, your 28.
Are you as a soon to be 30 year old going to be comfortable with 19 to 21 year olds ordering you around?
Lastly, do you want to be a Sailor somewhere out there in the fleet doing frick all? Cause that's the most likely scenario.
If you are certain you want to be a shite kicker my advice would be to pursue an 18X contract in The Army.
If you wash out of The Q at least you'll still be a paratrooper and not in the god damn Navy.

I'm not saying you can't do it, but if you flunk out you will be a janitor on a boat in the middle of the Indian ocean for 3 years.
Good luck. The Navy is infinitely better than every other branch.

He said what washes out a lot of guys is the next phase which is water/dive training. As a SEAL you have to be comfortable in the water. A lot of guys who could cruise through BUDS fail in the next phase because they can't get comfortable and operate in the water in stressful, dangerous situations. City boys country boys aren't used to it and fricks with their heads.
I know a guy who falls into this category. I believe the story was there is a part in training where while diving, instructors in the water rip out your oxygen mouth piece and basically fight you underwater. He said he blacked out numerous times in the water and just eventually quit.
Sounds fricking miserable to me.

One of my closest friends is a Green Beret and he has some pretty cool stories from training.

Nope, but a close family friend passed and is now an instructor in the BUD/S program. He said it was absolutely nuts. Said they were dropped off for roughly 48 hours to tread water with wake/ got kicked in the nuts with steel toe boots and had to do some sort of crazy torture routine where they play really shitty music for quite a while.
He was a cheerleader at the University of Nebraska. We thought it was kind of ghey when he would show up to our elementary school (his younger sister was in our class) and do backflips and shite. (all while being 6' and weighing 200+)... Turns out he is just one bad arse motherfricker

Navy basic training is in Great Lakes, IL, not Pensacola.
AOCS used to be at Pensacola until 2005 or so. I was a DI for 1 tour there. He may be talking about that but that's for pilots and not frogmen.

They fricking drown you. They hold you underwater until you quit fighting trying to keep the water out and then pull you up and bring you back to life.
