I taught my son. Empty parking lot at LSU. Was frustrating and finally after giving him all my wisdom, I said you have two weeks to learn because you are only driving this car with a manual in two weeks. Didn’t get in the car with him again and he taught himself. He still prefers a stick to an automatic.

I had no choice but to learn, dad bought me a 6speed when I finished undergrad. I thought both of my kids, a little jerky are first but make them actually drive one around in traffic, and they’ll pick it up.

It can be an issue if you rent a car in Europe, where manuals are still the norm (I think). They charge a lot more to rent automatics and sometimes they run out.

I taught a girlfriend how to drive in my first Porsche, and gave her the car as a graduation present.

I taught my HS girlfriend in a 66 Beetle. But sounds like you’re asking about driving instruction.

Good to know! Thankfully this ranks about number 1000 or so on my list of things to worry about
