I saw George in person years ago when I was a kid. He would bad mouth Tammy Wynette in between songs and I believe he was drunk. Man, what a voice.

I was thinking of that Johnny Paycheck song when I rolled into Atlanta this past summer.

I got to see him when he went on his first stadium tour sometime in the mid 90s. I think Faith Hill was with him.

I always divide his career into BLB & ALB, Before Love Bug and After Love Bug. Nearly 100% of his songs pre Love Bug are great. Post Love Bug he's batting more like .250.

Really, really good. No opening act and he and his band played for 3 straight hours.
