Maybe so but I doubt “mold” causes melanoma of the eye.

A latent viral cause makes the most sense. Rubella, herpes, etc

The girls are friends and in close proximity for a period of time, maybe sharing eye makeup and face products. They all start to suffer later in life from the melanoma. They may not have even known that they contracted the virus.
