Orlando takes me by surprise a little bit. I guess maybe because of the number of tourists that populate the area it goes up a bit?
It doesn't surprise me; I worked there for 8 yrs but all of the crime is really confined to 3 separate areas.

I've never witnessed a crime, property or otherwise, in Atlanta unless you count the occasional smell of weed wafting from an apartment or a domestic squabble... and I live in the very center of the city.

A buddy and I were trying to walk from Inner Harbour to a restaurant to get some crab cakes a few years ago. We walked right through the ghetto. They were playing basketball and it was super loud. Then they noticed us and you could hear a pin drop.

This isn't meant to start the Georgia/Louisiana debate again, but I'm surprised New Orleans isn't on the list. Or Baton Rouge for that matter.

Don't care. The city of Atlanta has less murder than the city of New Orleans. Fact.

I am surprised BR didn't make the list. Once south br breaks away becoming St. George then the crime stats should sky rocket

Fewer murders isn't a stat?

I'd rather be mugged or have my vehicle broken into than be murdered. Atlanta is much safer in that regard.

Here's a site that compares crime in 2 cities....
Baton Rouge is more dangerous than Atlanta per capita in many categories (murder, rape, larceny theft, and burglary)
New Orleans is safer than Atlanta in most categories
