Lol. He fired the DC, took over the LB room, and changed the defense from the LBs back. That isn't bush league, its called saving his job. Did you want him fixing the defense or talking with the boys on KTGR about how well the team was responding to Cross getting fired?

You can't tell the media "screw this" and then expect them to give you priority coverage when it's convenient to you or you need something.

When has Odom complained about media coverage?

I said that's likely why he quit doing it (to fix what was wrong).

It doesn't change the fact that in-state media committments are a big part of building interest and excitement in your product - and that falls within the many responsibilities of the head coach. Pinkel always made time, win or lose. Odom didn't.

As to the other point... Odom didn't verbalize the "screw you", his actions did.

I really don't give a rat's arse how Odom prioritizes his time. But if you want prime TV coverage you have to give them something to build a story around. Sound, film quotes, etc. Otherwise it's the same as high school coverage. Oooh, it's a big game tommorow. Here's the highlights of the Lutheran South-Vianney game from last week (or last year)...

It's going to be relegated behind anything with better optics, quotes or highlights.

How many great teams did MU beat rushing 4 while dropping into cover 2?

Wouldn't TV coverage require said station to send someone to Columbia to collect video and sound? Or should they poach that from another source?

Columbia's remote proximity to St. Louis and Kansas City is definitely a factor when it comes to television. I don't know if they send people out there on a weekly basis or have a source for relevant footage from the weekly media day. I would hope it would be a joint effort led by the media relations department doing their best to get them out there or give them what they need - Odom quotes, cooridinator quotes, player quotes.

I do know I see stories locally built around sound bites from Odom's weekly radio interviews. They're rarely groundbreaking (Pinkel's weren't either), but they remind the audience there was a game upcoming.

I'm surprised to hear there wasn't a story about today's game on the TV sports last night. All I can assume is other more immediate stories took priority or maybe they had their time cut due to news coverage (which happens often).

There isn't a TV station in STL or KC that is going to pay for a camera man to drive 4 hours round trip to grab 30 minutes of video, spend another 2 hours editing it down to 2-3 minutes and adding some dialogue for the sports anchor to regurgitate.

It shouldn't surprise anyone then that there isn't daily TV coverage of Mizzou football.

That reality isn't Odom's fault, either.
