6-6 would likely mean Bazelak is injured or replaced outright by Tyler Macon and no competent replacement was found for Larry Rountree and Nick Bolton. Otherwise a 6-6 prediction is saying we lose all three toss-up road games and only beat Tennessee, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

That said, Mizzou only won one true road game last year: @ South Carolina 17-10 and got shellacked in the other three: @ Tenner 35-12, @ Florida 41-17 and @ Miss St. 51-32 - so losing all the toss-up road games is certainly a possiblity.

Yea but minus Bolton, we’ve upgraded the pass defense with superior talent, Rake has a season on the books, and we have more lass catching skill players than last season. Plus a full offseason for Drink to more fully implement his O.

I'm with you (picking 8-4 personally).

A 6-6 season would be an Odom-like disaster and undercut all the positive momentum Drink's built.

I'll still circle back to the idea the success of their season will ultimately hinge on how well they can play against teams that want to play smashmouth (Kentucky, Arkansas, Georgia). They did last year with Rountree and Bolton setting the tone. If they can in 2021 they'll win 8+, if not 8 or less is likely.

8-4

Could be 9 or 10 wins.

I think our absolute floor for wins is 6. I think it’s far more likely we have 9 wins than 6.

I'm curious to see what the new D looks like under Wilks. Moving out of man to zone should change things a bit. Luckily the transfer corners played zone at tulsa, so it shouldn't be much different for them.

I'm a bit concerned with Kentucky. If they had a good quarterback, having to defend against the pass could make their running game unstoppable versus all but elite teams.
I know nothing about SC, but if their coach is making the same kind of improvements Drink is here, that could be more of a tossup than people are counting it as.
Not worried about Heupel's offense, especially with the talent drain at Tenn.
I'm assuming in the end our talent will be enough to beat B.C.
I can't tell if Arkansas defense last year was smoke and mirrors, or not. They had some turnover luck early on I believe, but seems like they were missing a lot of players near the end of season because of Covid.
Just my most pessimistic thoughts. Secretly, I'm hoping Drink has installed his offense fully and we see the kind of upset magic he pulled off at App. State.
I'd be satisfied with 7 wins if we see good player development, but hoping for 9+.

I'm at 8-4 also

I can see 9 or 10. Can also see 6 or 7.

Getting in before the buzzer here:

Central Michigan - W
@ Kentucky - L
SEMO - W
@ Boston College - W
Tennessee - W
N. Texas - W
Texas A&M - L
@ Vanderbilt - W
@ Georgia - L
S. Carolina - W
Florida - L
@ Arkansas - L

7-5. As long as they win the bowl game, I'd be perfectly happy with that in year 2.

I’ll be happy with 6 wins if we land Burden. No Burden, need 7-8.
