My gut was feeling a little unsettled before watching yesterday's games. Not having Penton in College Station is huge, same with Webb for the first half. That game looks much tougher now, and a A&M has 2 QBs that could really hurt us. So my gut is queasy about that game. We need a strong defensive performance, Good Maty to show up, and hope for a little hangover from their emotional win yesterday.

Tennessee scares me. It has all season. We could easily lose that game, and Neyland is not going to be an easy place to play. Now that Tennessee seems to have found a QB, it's going to take another Herculean defensive effort to get out of there with the W.

I don't know what to think about Arky. They are ripe to upset someone. I'd hate for it to be us, but it wouldn't surprise me. Depends on where things stand. If a trip to Atlanta is riding on that game, we may play lights out and come through.

As far as Georgia- Auburn goes, that will be a battle. My bet is that Auburn plays pissed and might just win that, especially if Gurley is rusty at all. My gut is queasy. I still say we could win out or lose out. Neither would surprise me.

winning two means a probable tie w/ UGA and so we lose on the head to head.

the 3-way tie seems really unlikely to me and I'm not even sure if people are interpreting the tie breaker rules correctly on that, the large # of assumptions of us winning the 3-way tie may be wrong.

either way I can see us dropping a game, probably because one of the teams gets an early jump on us and without our defensive ability to attack them playing "catch up" we lose our advantage the pass rush gives us.

If UGA can knock off Aubie or even if they don't we still may wind up tied with them and lose on the head to head.

Three-Team Tie (or more)

If three teams (or more) are tied for a division title, the following procedure will be used in the following order: (Note: If one of the procedures results in one team being eliminated and two remaining, the two-team tiebreaker procedure as stated in No. 1 above will be used):
A. Combined head-to-head record among the tied teams
B. Record of the tied teams within the division

If MU, UF and UGA are tied it means UGA lost to Auburn, UF won out and MU lost 2 out of 3. The key for MU will be that the one win be against UT. Part A doesn't help because each of the three teams would be 1-1 head to head against each other.

Part B, UGA would finish 4-2 in the division. UF would finish 5-1 in the division and MU would finish 5-1 in the division.

UGA would be eliminated by the 3 team tiebreaker rule and I would assume that using the 2 team tiebreaker rule then means you start from the start of the 2 team tiebreaker.

quote:

1. Two-Team Tie: In the event two teams are tied for a division title, the following procedure will be used in the following order:

A. Head-to-head competition between the two tied teams;

MU would beat UF on the head to head.

If one of MU's 2 losses is to UT, we're out with a 4-2 division record, just like UGA and UF would win the east. How crazy is that to think of.

That's your deal.

I'm not into caring about who's averaging X amount of yards for away games in the third quarter of a tie game, etc.

Some people here are, and for those folks you are probably a wealth of information. It certainly adds a football centric aspect to the board that I admittedly, will never bring to the table.

Lastly, I was commenting on the whole of your gut, and what it says. While most posters guts say things like, "frick it I expect to lose all three.", yours spouts stats and probabilities.

It talks alot. Big Man.

yes I believe that's correct, part of the assumption to even get that far means of any games we lose, Tenn is NOT one of them, so there is that too, I think.

The good part is the "control your destiny" just win baby aspect.. still hard to believe we made it this far.

We play A&M this coming weekend and then Tennessee, not the other way around.

Also, Georgia plays Auburn this coming weekend and I predict they'll lose that game.

If we win the A&M game, Tennessee the following weekend may determine Mizzou as the East champion...and I'll be at that game!

I view it as a good sign. An omen of good fortune.

Real Mizzou fans would note that the Mizzou D is good enough to win all 3 games.

The fair weather fans will complain about the offense as if that is all that matters in college football.

The Defense is good enough, no question. But we can't rely on the defense to score enough points to win. The defense can keep us in games, but the offense still has to produce. And in the next game, we are without arguably our best CB, and our best safety for half the game too.

I'd say I think I'm gonna need hookers and blow to get through the season, but that's about the only things this years Tigers aren't getting busted for, so I won't.

Seriously, it depends on who shows up. We have the ability to win out. We have the egos and attitude to lose out. I think I'm going to pub to watch the rest of the season, so I don't break my TV.

The problem with the offense is, it has been so bad and inefficient that playing from behind is almost impossible.

There have been games this season where a 7-10 point deficit would have been insurmountable.

It's not about complaining about the offense. Its about realizing that at some point, after multiple 3 and outs on offense, the defense, no matter how great, will peter out.

This. You can't count on Florida games every week.

And that has been addressed with more emphasis on the running game. This O is capable of grinding out first downs and resting the defense now. It wasn't when SEC play started.

Hard to grind if you're down late in the game.

Its funny that Pinkel loves grind it out, kill the clock, play not to lose football, I wonder if this team has finally given him some kind of appreciation of defense. Actually playing defense instead of just "hope the other team makes a mistake with the ball" when your O isn't on the field has turned out well, just wonder if he actually understands why.

I think we lose at aTm
win at Tenn
lose against Arky.

So hard to pick in this stretch the way they are playing. Hopefully I'm wrong and we win all, because we can do it.

We're gonna lose this weekend vs A&M

We beat Tennessee and Arkansas

However, UGA wins out and we get 2nd in the division and some backwater hillbilly bowl at 9-3.
