After getting the rust knocked off, it was another solid week for the defense. Troy was averaging 346 yds through the air and had 150. 75 of that was on the first drive.

They settled in nicely.

How about that Cale Garrett? Damn I'm gonna miss watching him play.

He went from heading to the Academy to being the best MLB in the last 20 years of Mizzou Football. He won't test well enough to get much of a shot in the league but he'll get a couple of interviews just because coaches love guys like him.

Do you think he has a chance as a special teams player?

Garret needs to find a school where they have a DC guru and become a grad assistant. His future is coaching.

Thanks. I didn’t think he was fast enough, but didn’t know if someone would give him a shot.

Mizzou has some pretty good defensive coaches if Garrett wants to learn the coaching side, however he might be better off diversifying his football background. He’s a different kind of guy so may not want to coach.

Playing inside LB in the modern NFL requires a gear that he doesn't have. If teams were still trying to play ball in a phone booth he would probably get looks by teams running a 3-4.

There isn't a RB in the league he can handle in the flat and imagine him trying to deal with Kelce or Kittle on the seam or following on a cross. He also would have minimal blitz value.

None of that should diminish what he has done for his team as the QB of the defense. He is a great college LB.

I agree with you that he can’t run like a modern NFL LB is supposed to, but there is something about this kid that makes me think he’ll continue to keep proving folks wrong
