Next year's potential starting 5 if the worst does happen:

PG: Rector (Don't think he's going anywhere-no demand)
SG: Bello (He's stuck)
SF: Jones (Again, no demand elsewhere)
PF: Rosburg (He's a Mizzou guy for life I think)
C: Post (He too is stuck)

On the bench:

Feldman
Barnard

I really don't get how you guys are so certain the new hire will suck. Defeatist.

Good point. It really couldn't be much worse than the last hire. Alden was setting a baseline.

You think the new hire is going to win with that lineup reedus just posted?

This is pretty unrealistic dude. If you have a secure contract at a place like Mizzou you don't leave for a place like Tulsa. None of us knows the nature of the contract or job security talks between Haith and Alden that have gone on, but its kind of easy to figure this one out. Nobody goes to a Tulsa if they are secure at a Mizzou. If Haith was given a "make the NCAA tourney next year or else you'll be gone" type ultimatum then I think he didn't have much choice but to open up his options, next year is indeed a very likely rebuilding year no matter who the coach is.

But hey, I love how the way it shook out gives people more reasons to blame Haith and say he sucks. Power to the people and all.

The fans didn't force him out. They might have next year. But fans saying "he sucks" on a message board doesn't make a coach leave. If it does, he shouldn't be a coach in the first place. So, if you're upset, be upset at Haith. He left you.

Without a dope beat to step to.

I thought Snyder was the baseline?!?! Or was Alden just re-setting the baseline because expectations were getting out of line?

You can blame some combo of Haith, Alden and big money boosters. The rank and file fan didn't have shite to do with this.

This coaching change notwithstanding, I really hope Post improves. He's got the physical body to be a great player, but without any competent teammates and consistent coaching, I might be hoping for too much.

You guys just don't get it. They're in a lose lose situation. The program was becoming a huge dumpster fire with all the arrests, this wasn't going to end good with or without Haith.

If you've already given up on the first season (defeatist...), do you think the new guy is going to be able to have a good 2nd season...

There really is a different mindset among Mizzou fans. Locally, we just went through a coaching situation where Dave Rice (HC at UNLV and UNLV alum) interviewed for a job at either Central Florida or South Florida.

People were all on the radio talking about how every decent coach with a desire to coach would come to Vegas to coach. Sure we're Vegas, but there was a positive mindset. Opening up the purse would get UNLV probably 1.25m or so to pay a guy to come and everyone was excited.

Mizzou just assumes there's going to be shite everywhere. I'm sure it will be fine. I made a joke earlier about the Haith hire being garbage, and it pretty much was, but there will still be people willing to come to Mizzou if fo no other reason than the dough and the facilities.

Buck up, gents. It's going to be fine, or at least a lot closer to fine than it would be at many other places.

I don't think that at all. What I think is that you could hand an absolutely terrific coach the roster he's going to get next year, with JW3 and others likely fleeing from it, and the result would be a brutally difficult year. I think a staff of Coach K, Izzo, Calipari and Pitino would struggle with the roster they will have next year. And I think our fanbase is so petulant, impatient and entitled that they will not care about what the roster was, and will immediately decide the new coach sucks b/c he didn't win his first year. The attendance will be even worse, the fans will already be calling for his head entering Year Two. When in fact we'll still know literally nothing about his ability to craft a winner here.

We are turning Mizzou basketball into a toxic coaching position that a great coach would be wise to avoid. That's my concern.

But the impact could have been minimized. I suppose on the flip side, bite the bullet, suffer for a few years and rebuild the right way. I just think if JW3 and Clark were at least juniors, Gant and Wright sophomores, they would have more likely stayed. Them staying may have led the incoming recruits to stay because they saw the talent here. Now, who knows? Hope I'm wrong and no one bails on the program.

I don't see Alden hiring anyone will less of a winning percentage from a dump school than he did last time.

Throw in the fact that the new guy likely won't have NCAA issues and we're way ahead of the game.
