And then there's that, which certainly a case can be made. Come at me JQ.

I was surprised to see Smith so high. Is he still getting NFL checks from his last job, so Illinois AD knew he had to overpay? I also thought Old Man Snyder would be a lot higher in the ranking.

still have my doubts about Odom's game managing, but he deserves a year or two to prove he can learn from the mistakes.

Agreed. I like the overall team attitude and toughness he's cultivated. If he can just bring his game and clock management skills up to snuff he could be the keeper we originally hoped for.

"The man on top of the mountain didn't fall there." Vince Lobardi

UNFAIR??? You want fairness in sports? Bless you heart. It doesn't exist, nor in any business. Let's see some tears shed for the awful unfairness that Power-5 coaches have to endure. Did AD Sterk make Odom sign his contract?

Compensation should be market driven. Let him walk (where is he going?). Compensate on his results. It's simply a "results based" business. I'm all for "result driven" compensation for HCBO. In general, I believe that HCBO's compensation package should be in the lower third of the conference at this time. You can always raise it later.

Timing...timing...timing on any compensation increase. I'm "on the fence" with HCBO currently. Only bump his base with a 9-winner this season. Add result driven comp at any time.

HCBO is truly amazing the way he "owns the locker room" and keeps the team focused and playing hard. Not many can do that. Therefore, in the leadership category he gets a solid "9" out of 10. And I'm being a tough grader, it could easily be a "9.8".

Coaching...his inexperience speaks volumes here. My grade for coaching is incomplete at this time and frankly, not very high if I had to give one. (USCe, UK games this year. Want to talk about previous two year's games? We have.) Let's finish this year then evaluate. Then bump the assistant's $ pool if warranted.

K extension time...okay, it cost nothing really. But no increase in the buy-out $ unless he gets to 9-wins this season. Bowl games MATTER to me and they should to everybody involved in the program.

Program investment and commitment...invest in a nice new full-size indoor practice facility that any HC can show recruits and thereby help the HC.

Just win...the money will follow.

I got no problem with an extension. Just make sure the buyout is cheap.

There is literally no case to be made for that at this point. I can understand still being skeptical but pining to fire a coach who has continually improved the program (while making strides in recruiting STL) is...well, stupid.

Money talks... Especially to coaches that are looking at Mizzou for a future head coaching job. If this is a mid $2 million a year school, then, it'll get candidates that are in between the 40th and 70th best coaches in the country.

That is why AD is going to evaluate that at the end of the year and if he is back next year(should be) he will be evaluate again and see what improvements have been done from the year before. That is not hard to do. So Why are some of the fans do not like Barry Odom from the second year and look at Arky! 2-8? That is cute! FSU? That is not good for a head coach who have been head coach for a long time. There is no such thing as a sure hire now a days.
