You're the first person I've heard say anything like this.

What kind of changes can we expect from the Mizzou offense this year?

Biggest change is the pace of play.
They are playing at a breakneck pace.

Well, it appears we may have one.
The OL has been a very pleasant surprise so far this season. They're opening lanes for the backs, and giving Lock time. I think he's taken 1 sack, on a blitz. With Coach Andy Hill back with our receivers, they are beginning to grow up. Lock passed for more than 450 yds and 5 TDs yesterday, and we have 4 different receivers with 100+ yd games. Lock's passes have a touch they didn't have last year, and he's looking more accurate. All this said, however - they're young. The line is ALL new, not a vet starter there I don't believe. We've used 4 backs so far, but we don't appear to have a Chubb among them. With time, Crockett (freshman) and Strong (Juco) have the ability to be special.

Points.
Maybe.

Tempo and we push the ball down the field. OL has been a very pleasant surprise. Lock has improved by leaps and bounds. He's displaying better vision, pocket presence, patience and really showing off his elite arm talent. We have a host of speedy slot types who can get behind the defense or make plays on bubble screens.
Running game hasn't really gotten on track yet, but Crockett and Strong show the most potential IMO.

The run game hasn't been that bad. The raw numbers are ok, over 150 total yards each week. Just haven't had any big plays out of the run game.

Wouldn't say it's been bad either. Just ok. Definitely want to see more of Crockett and Strong.

which doesn't give the D much rest

Biggest change is the pace of play.
They are playing at a breakneck pace.
If we get them flat footed they will start flopping to slow things down. I hope they have to do that a lot.

Chubb will get his. It will be more about limiting others and scoring points.
Hopefully your current staff will realize that your upperclassmen faced this offense two years ago when Chaney was at Arkansas. I've watched both their games so far and it's the same dumpster fire he ran here so they should have some good scouting info. You can definitely shut it down if your defense is prepared.

Unfortunately we don't have any of the same staff that we had two years ago. No defensive staff will remember that game two years ago. Sure, they can watch video. But they weren't at Mizzou when we play Arkansas two years ago and therefore they won't remember what that game was like.

Cornell Ford and Andy Hill. That's it on the staff from 2 years ago, right?

I have no doubts that if we players EMU first then WVU, we would be going into this game 2-0.

So no one who really matters...

Probably.
What we should hope for is a solid season for Mizzou (7 or 8 wins) as well as a VERY good season for WVU to explain away our loss in week 1

quote:Definitely. I said somewhere earlier that I think if we played WV in week 6 instead of week 1, we might have a different outcome. We just had too much new for a decent P5 in week 1. We needed the powder-puff games early. Get in rhythm and build confidence.
