The team that won it last year, I guess.

I’m not going to get to excited because of the last 5 hires. In the end they were all disappointments.

Mike Anderson and Quin Snyder were the biggest disappointments out of the last 5 coaches. I didn’t expect much out of Haith, KA, or Cuonzo. Didn’t know who Haith was, KA was a DII coach, and after Cuonzo left Mo State his recruits went .500 and 11-22.

Disappointed in Quin because I thought it was a good hire because of his time coaching with Coach K at Duke. I thought it was even better when he went to the Elite 8 in his 3rd year. Then he started taking his cocaine dealer on road trips and screwing Linas Kleiza girlfriend.

Disappointed in Mike Anderson because he left after only 5 years. If he had stayed we would be a winning program and consistently making the NCAA tournament. In 21 years of coaching he has not had a losing season. He was a good in game coach, a good recruiter, and his teams were exciting to watch. His team went 31-7 in the 08-09 and his recruits went 31-5 in the 11-12 season. I would have really liked to see him coach that 11-12 team.

Gates coaches similar to Mike Anderson and I hope he can do the same thing Anderson did by his 3rd year.

Team is fun to watch this year at least. Makes winters a bit more enjoyable when your NFL team is shitty

Did you all remember South Carolina tried to hire Dennis Gates? He did turn the job down to get hired by a female AD DRF.

I wasn’t sold on Gates at the time of his hire. Really thought we should have swung higher. But the product he’s put out so far is fun. And I keep reminding myself while yeah most of the teams he’s beat this year are just barley better than some high school teams we’re only a few years off from losing to those times under Kim Anderson. I’m not expecting a tournament appearance this year but I fully feel like next year he can have this team in the dance.

The schedule hasn't been hard but there have been several teams that are top 200 teams. That is far from high school level. You need to get to the upper 300s for the high school level teams. Many teams on this year's schedule that are way higher rated than teams Cuonzo lost to last year.

That was a good win on the road (neutral site game within a short drive from their campus) against a team that should be in contention to make the Big Dance. So far Gates has been better than I expected. I thought he'd need another year to get things going.

The key, like it is for all of us this year, is to try to hold serve on your home court and steal a win or two on the road during conference play. There are multiple teams that can do some serious damage in the NCAAT this year in the SEC.
