The Heisman Award

How many on here think this award has erroded as far as picking deserving nominees? I mean the nominee's are good athletes but lack that something special. At least to me they do.
Who would I think is deserving of such an award? Henry Josey. This guy came back from a more or less career ending injury to post 1074 yrds on 162 attempts and 13 TD's all while sharing the backfield with two other RB's and a dual threat QB. To me, this is a major accomplishment worthy an award like the Heisman.
Or am I missing something?

Come Back player of the year award for Josey maybe but not Heisman. Winston deserves it. He has been the best player all year on a team who is blowing every one out. I love Josey and his story is a great one. But coming back from injury, no matter how serious, is not a credential for the Heisman. Also believe Jordan Lynch should not be there. He put his numbers against terrible competition.

Jafo, I agree with you. The part that has eroded, for me, is the integrity part. To me, the Heisman means you're a top player on the field, invaluable to your team, and a solid person off the field. I think that off the field integrity piece is what's missing in a lot of the athletes who have been up for the award (and won) in recent years.
Character is important. And I think they overlook it and pick the best pure athlete with gaudy numbers.

I honestly think they should just not give the award this year. Nobody is really deserving.
