It's a crime how little Mizzou is talked about on STL sports radio.

101.1 hardly touches the topic.

This is a team with 3 legitimate 1st round picks in the next NFL draft. A legitimate Heisman candidate.

I mean, Christ, how do you not talk about this team?

The rare times it is talked about, the person talking isn't qualified to talk about Mizzou football.

How is St. Louisan and Mizzou analyst, Howard Richards, not called up on the phone for regular interviews?

It really is a shame and I believe there is definitely a correlation between interest/ticket sales and the lack of coverage from St. Louis media.

I really believe it's on you, reader, to take action.

There is a strong enough Mizzou following in STL to collectively force local media to cover the states flagship program.

Want to sell out games?

Want to increase revenues?

Want St. Louis kids to have a passion for Mizzou?

Force media to cover the university.

101 talks about Mizzou all the time.

The Cardinals are on a historic run right now.

Stop being a Betsy.

The FastLane, which is mainly what I listen to, doesn't talk Mizzou football. I'm sure they go over the score and a couple details during the season, but no, this is not something that is covered on that station as a whole and no it's not because of this Cardinal run.

When the Cardinals were historically bad just a month ago there was no injecting segments about a Heisman candidate or multiple first rounders or the recruiting tides turning in St. Louis.

Mizzou isn't a priority in St Louis media. That's kind of a matter-of-fact thing.

I’m just 30 minutes west of St. Louis and it’s like I’m the only Mizzou fan within a 50 mile radius. I just think Missouri is a pro sports state to most people. I’ve tried to talk Mizzou all throughout my college years at MS&T (and most of my roommates were high school friends/acquaintances that are major sports fans) and they just didn’t give a shite. Only cared for the Cardinals, Blues, and nearly all switched from Rams fans to Chief fans. I don’t understand it. The atmosphere of college football in particular, especially since we joined the SEC is just a must experience every single Saturday. I don’t get it and it’s embarrassing that programs like Kentucky recruit better than Mizzou and have near equal attendance numbers.

I live over here in Lees Summit which is a suburb of KC, it's pretty much a Mizzou stronghold, but even with that, people don't normally talk a whole lot about Mizzou. We are indeed a pro sports state and it isn't even close. I quit listening to sports talk radio over here a few years ago for the same reasons.

Barry Odom is (finally) going to do a weekly shot with Frank Cusumano again on 590 this year.

I think it's going to be Monday mornings around 10:30.

I do think that Mizzou is not covered enough. Having said that, I've heard more coverage as the season gets closer. I will also add that I hardly hear any paid spots promoting the team, tickets, etc.

I see fox sports midwest advertising the tickets for the first couple of games for all the people watching the Cardinals games. Didn't they have a Mizzou night at a Cardinals game before.

Yes. Like I said. It's picked up as the season has gotten closer. They should have been plastering the air ways selling tickets and season tickets all off season. Not a week or two before the first game. Just my opinion.

The fastlane is the worst. You can tell none of the hosts have any interest in CFB and what little time they do spend on it they have zero knowledge whatsoever. That show is baseball obsessed.

the hardline is much better if you want CFB/Mizzou coverage.

I get it. There is not enough people who have the support to go to the games and watch them on a regular basis. If Missouri do well this year and win 8 games or more regular games this year, then there will be more interest. Pro football kinda hurt the football in the St. Louis area. How the NFL treated St. Louis and so forth. Give it time. Wait til end of year and see if Missouri do well and then people will start coming back to it. Do not forget about the protest and other bad influence from media. So far things are quite and that is a very good sign there is no problems and no bad exposure at Missouri. Got to continue to win and the fans and get to fill the classrooms at Missouri. That have picked up this fall so far. It does not take over night to make it happened. Give it time. Things are looking good so far.

Plus the blues made moves to give them a legit chance at their first Stanley Cup.

I do prefer more mizzou talk, since I love to hear it, but I also know that'll come when the season starts. Not sure how you havent learned by now, especially if you're really a mizzou fan, but mizzou disappoints A LOT. The saying" show me state" is incredibly fitting for mizzou sports, and im sure just like you and me, radio shows take that approach too.

When I used to listen to sports radio in KC it was the same thing. Mostly just Chiefs talk. Not much college football.
