I believe he was and prosecuted for terroristic threats. I read it somewhere and will see if I can find it again to link to make sure I'm not wrong.
Now the real rumors are starting about the KKK showing up. Surely that's just paranoia as they sit in their dorm room.
ETA - I can't find it so maybe not but others have been.

When I first moved to Columbia, there was a dude who used to walk up and down Broadway, dressed in combat gear, carrying a machete and yelling. When I questioned whether this could possibly be a problem, someone told me that was just a homeless guy off his meds again, the police knew him and took care of him when he had these episodes. This dude reminded me of him.

Talked to an MUPD officer. he says investigators looked into the anonymous Yik Yak posts and found there is "no credibility to the threat"

Meanwhile, the MSA president who was harassed by dudes in a pickup truck said 2 minutes ago...
Students please take precaution. Stay away from the windows in residence halls. The KKK has been confirmed to be sighted on campus. I'm working with the MUPD, the state trooper and the National Guard.

Either they have apprehended the guy who posted and it was a prank, or we are waiting until tomorrow to find out it was a hoax, which it has to be, but to still say that as a police officer now is off base.
Additionally frick the 1950 organization who are sustaining this and holding the entire city hostage right now with this fear mongering bullshite.

That's seriously what it is, they are taking to twitter with all these reports to further sensationalize all of this bullshite they have already been spouting. They are being directly refuted by the same police officers that are on the ground in the streets.
They need to be expelled from campus and put an end to this complete bullshite. Their whole intention is to divide and cause issues, there is NO good coming from any of this bullshite.

Payton Head is thr MSA president. He was tweeting that he was working with MUPD, national Guard and the highway patrol on the KKK situation, when at the same time MUPD was saying no, there's not credibility to the KKK story. He retracts and takes down the tweets and Facebook posts. On Facebook he claimed that he had contacted the White House too. Can't make this up. The student association president.

Every single person on that campus has a smartphone. Why are there no videos of these racist white people threatening blacks?

@mattdpearce: MUPD Major Brian Weimer says at no point has any campus facility or building been formally evacuated.
