So on the Rant today I was told Toledo is better than IU

I don't follow the Big Ten (much to the dismay of many here, I'm sure), but is there any truth to this? I've tried searching, but I didn't find a whole lot about either besides sunshine pumping local shite.
Is the Toledo game a bigger danger to Mizzou than Indiana?

I've heard others express the same opinion. In fact, if IU had a team like years past, I'd say Toledo would be the toughest game but IU is supposed to be improved this year so who knows. I'd say, the Mizzou team of last year could lose to Toledo, IU or Arky State. Hopefully we are not the Mizzou of last year.

Well that doesn't look too good from our homerish site.
In comparison to last year's UCF, similar talent and skill, you think?

I don't know a lot about Toledo, but that Indiana game is dangerous. They'll be pretty decent this year. I think they return damn near everyone. I think with Mizzou getting those that were injured last year back that you'll win, probably by a nice margin but it'll be close until late in the 3rd. IMO

Yeah, I have been looking at Arky State as a marginally tough game, but one that Mizzou should easily win in the second half.
If this team is less than we think, it seems like we've got a significantly more challenging OOC schedule than we should in a down-type year.
Should we be nervous, or is my blow through the OOC and win 2 SEC games prediction pretty sound?

Idk.
My guess is that Toledo has the most finesse on offense between IU and Arky ST. They'll be fast but maybe not big-strong enough to hang all game. We should be able to score 30+.
IU should have the biggest and strongest OL. Good players on offense, but not a bunch of skill players. Another one we should be able to put up 30 or more, and should be able to hold under 30.
Arky St may be a bit of a combo between Toledo and IU, but not as good as either. A small challenge, but one we should win.
3 semi tough games that we should win, but we'll have to do most thing right in all three games. We bring anything less than a B+ game any of those weeks and we could lose.
I think you raise a good point about Toledo. Most have their eyes on IU, but Toledo could be a problem.

I go in cycles between thinking Mizzou will come out strong and will be the team we've expected over the last decade that will come out and win, then I think about last year and ignore the injuries and think that's what we should expect.
I waver between 8 wins and 5 constantly, and it's annoying the frick out of me. I can't wait for the season to finally begin.

You have us winning 3 SEC games.
For posterity and such.
Also, a loss in one of these OOC games is a possibility. I have a feeling that after last year, they'll be better prepared for these games. Especially considering we don't get to the conf schedule until after all the OOC's are played.
Last years schedule was brutal considering everything.

I have Mizzou beating Vanderbilt in addition to Kentucky and Tennessee, which is my big wavering point. I don't know what to expect from Vandy after the off season.
That being said, our battles vs. Georgia and Florida last year give me some hope. Vanderbilt's just the easy one to say we'll win and make a bowl.
I could really see Mizzou giving a lot of teams a game, including Florida, Georgia, and Ole Miss after what I saw last year, but I've learned through years of Cubs and Mizzou fandom that it's always best to temper expectations when you've got a marginal team going into the season.

It is strange. Don't remember ever being this uncertain about a season. I was leaning strong toward 8 wins, but the way the offense died in the final scrimmage left me wondering. But to be fair, JF didn't play much and Boehm was out. Who knows.. such a cliche thing to say, but health will be a big factor. We don't have a lot of wiggle room at a lot of spots, key guys go down and the dynamics of our team change drastically.

I'm usually pretty good at guessing how the team will do. Last year I was fricked because of the injuries and everything that happened, but I expected 9 wins last season and I still don't think that was a bad prediction. I look dumb, but I'll still stand behind my prediction given the circumstances of last season.
This year, I really have no clue, it's all leftover doubt from what happened last season, but it's really fricking annoying.
I just want it to get going.

Well, you don't really have anything to go on because of the injuries, you don't know how much better you would have been with them.
It's damn near like this is really your first season in SEC play.
Sort of.
Not really, but you know.

I'll give you that.
I've never thought as well about our prospects in the SEC as I did during halftime of the Georgia game surrounded by quiet as hell Georgia fans at our local watch party.

My post above may have come out wrong. I see the same as you do, a potential 8 win team or as few as 5 wins. It's very hard to see how it may play out given the circumstances. I can tell you that if I were a betting man I wouldn't touch any line on a Mizzou game until about game 6.
Posted on 8/24/13 at 7:21 pm to TheOtherWhiteMeat
It didn't come out wrong at all. As much as the Mizzou board will try to beat you down, you don't have to agree. In fact, if outside posters agree with us all the time, I'll become the grayback of the board and start voting people out.
I want discussion. I am a betting man, and in this case, I agree with you. I never bet on Mizzou, but if I did I also wouldn't touch anything until after the Georgia game.

I say game 6 because I'm curious about the Mizzou OL, and I think Vandy (game 5) will test your OL. They replace 3 of their 4 front, but they have depth on the DL and an opportunistic secondary that may buy the DL a little extra time. I don't think their D will be world beaters, but they'll be salty.

I'm nervous about Vanderbilt, honestly. However, I just pick Vandy in most cases because if we lose there isn't a boat full of cocksuckers calling me out.
I honestly think we may knock off a couple teams we shouldn't. I think there's just as likely a chance we lose to Indiana.
It's tough season to predict. Everything will be a lot clearer after the OOC schedule is done, and I think having all 4 OOC games at the front of the schedule Big 12 style will help us in SEC play.

We could lose to either Toledo or Indiana, and if we lost either one it'll be a looooong season. Vandy is a toss-up. We better take care of business against the teams we should beat, take the toss-up games, and hopefully steal one - I think the best chance for the upset is Florida.

Indiana is one of the worst teams in the Power Conferences (you'll be happy to know I think Kansas is by far the worst).
Toledo is sorta like Troy and UCF. They're good within their conference and have the potential to scare or even upset some bigger opponents. I don't see them as BCS busters, but they could be dangerous.
