The thing about all this is here people sit on a message board pumping up each other about coaching candidates and when their bubble gets popped because Mizzou didn't hire THE coach of the century they want and then begin to bash, plow, dissect and crap all over the program for the hire is really almost to much to watch. I understand not everyone is high on this hire and has a right to express that displeasure, but why beat this into the ground? It's a done deal. Are you a Mizzou fan or not?

Did it occur to anyone that maybe the other candidates didn't want to coach at Mizzou?

Yes but the consensus on the board is it's because Alden sucks as a human being and nobody wants to work for him.

and the reality is outside of Howland no big names were looking to move.

So a rough board synopsis:

camp 1) I think he's a good hire that will bring stability to the program. Could be interesting if he hires former players to coach. Clearly a mizzou loyalist who will keep the teams concerns above his own. Good x and o coach. Who says he can't recruit especially with Fuller.

Camp 2) Alden is a total piece of shite. Needs to be fired yesterday. Basketball is over as we know it and I will no longer support it. Which means when I grab a beer and sit in front of the tube in my underwear I will turn on netflix instead of the game. Unless we start winning, in which case I'm all in and will have supported the hire from the cradle

5. We'll be stuck with Alden for a long time. Why? The football team is doing well, and that is the straw that stirs the drink, especially in the SEC. Also, the move to the SEC masks certain problems. Empty basketball seats? No worries, SEC money is going to gush in to save the day, especially with the SEC Network here just in the nick of time.

Yeah but as soon as (if) the football team struggles he will be gone, he's had 30 lives.

Im going to give Anderson a shot because, well, I love Mizzou first and foremost.

I dont like the hire at all. I dont buy into the narrative that Alden has no blame for many of the problems the BB program has faced.

This isnt directed at you ATX but can some of you save the edgy, love it or leave it responses? You sound like fricking pricks quite honestly. There are plenty of legitimate reasons to not like this hire.

Why is so hard to understand?

If we have top 30 facilities and top 30 salary, why don't people want to coach at Mizzou?

What does this mean? Is this some passive aggressive shot across the bow?

Alden maybe? They've said on the radio here in KC several times that he does not have a real good reputation in the basketball coaching world. I don't know how trustworthy that tidbit of info is, but that's what I've heard.

bingo

Where there is smoke there is fire and starting with the the last coaching search the rumors have been rampant that coaches dont like/want to work with Alden.

I bet its not. Haith was a bad coach, with a lacking gameplan and little to no game coaching skills. There were so many games last year that a well coached team wins with those players. The 4th quarter collapses told me all I needed to know about FH.

I don't disagree with your comments about Haith. He won despite himself because of the talent that was here. I just don't see any way that Anderson averages 26 wins a season after the first 3 years. And that's not Anderson's fault. The cupboard is just a bit bare right now compared to what Haith inherited.

You read his entire, well-constructed, clearly thought out post, and that was your only takeaway?

I certainly don't blame KA for taking the job, there's no reason for that. I put the blame on Alden. I hope I'm proven wrong, because I love Mizzou and want to see us succeed. But I'm going to have to be convinced by the product on and off the court.

By the way, Tim Fuller doesn't sound very ummm, shall we say, committed to Mizzou in his quotes on PowerMizzou....like at all....like as in, he had already planned to take the FAMU job but hung around CoMo an extra week during the search as a favor to Alden sort of not committed...
