Quick takeaways
3 guys didn't play. Geist-injury, Walton-sick, Barnett-not eligible until semester ends.

Both Walton and Barnett are expected to be starters.
Creighton is preseason ranked 22

Hughes had 22 points
Puryear & Jackson added 12 a piece
Phillips had 10 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists.

Second half fouls Mizzou 21 Creighton 10

Game was close mostly. Mizzou was within 5 until the last 5 minutes. Ended up loosing by 13.
If Creighton was fully healthy, then it bodes well for this team in SEC play.

That's a pretty good showing, especially with Walton out.

Seems odd that Barnett can't even play in a scrimmage?

Probably would have won that with a full squad, unless Creighton of course wasn't full.

Heard TP struggled since he had to play extra minutes. So having Geist will be nice.

I doubt Mizzou beats Creighton even if fully healthy. But Creighton is a top 25 team. Under KA the last 2 years Mizzou hasn't even been competitive against top 50 level teams.

Stats don't look like Phillips struggled 10, 10 & 6. Maybe he had a bunch of turnovers.
Really will have to wait until next year before Phillips has a good backup in Roberts.

Pfft! No one is taking minutes away from sophomore sensation Cullen VanLeer!

Ya it was a good game for him, what I meant to say was I guess Creighton switched to a full court press in the 2nd half which made it really hard on TP since we had no other ball handlers in. Didnt mean to make it sound like he had a bad game in all.

With that said, not having your 2 starters, and a back up PG out while playing at a t30 and almost winning is good enough for me at this point. With happened with UoI at that time, i got an once more excited for dec 21st.

Also read on a Creighton board that in the 2nd half, CU shot 10 FT's in 86 seconds. and no, thats not coming from the last few minutes.

Phillips has a tendency to over dribble in those situations. In the B&G scrimmage he had a turnover doing just that.
When the newcomers were pressed they did a good job of beating the press with the pass
