Hill and M are staying. Shame on you all for wanting to replace it with generic bleachers. I can see some seating coming in on the side though, like Clemson. It's interested that they have a hill and cat paw (I miss using our cat paw).
Additional seating will come with other expansions. I don't see the point in taking the one unique thing away from our stadium.
Anyone want to blow up the track with me?
The more I look at the new hill I just want to

I think it looks really good now. I think they should add some hedges in front of the stone wall.
I don't think that would have looked very good to be honest. Maybe I am wrong though.
Yeah if they ever add seats in the north endzone, they would build them parallel to the endzone rather than make it curved like the hill used to be. Now they just have to add the seating structure over the hill it seems to me.
They could build a few more rows of seating in where the small hill is in front of the seating, but they wouldn't have a very good view at all unless the people sitting there like watching the players on the sidelines, because they wouldn't be able to see over all the players and actually see the field. That is why they have that hill there now and not the seats.
Also, despite the track, it doesn't necessarily make the fans further away from the field. In fact, some other stadiums have tracks too and some fans at other stadiums are further away from the field than fans at Faurot.
See what I mean here:

Why couldnt they have at least built stands (bleachers, seating) on the new hill all the way up to either side of the rock M? We could have perhaps packed in another 1,000 fans.

Those smarter than me, does it appear the hill had to be relocated to where it is now in order to build that additional seating semo talked about? I always kind of figured that was the true purpose in moving it forward.

Really not a fan of the track either, but it's my understanding that there's not much that can be done about bringing the seating closer.

They are for now. They'll be gone in time. Might be 15 years. Might be 20 years. But eventually it will be seating.
BTW - Faurot looks 1000X's better than that pic of Clemson's stadium. Do those seats go straight up? Do you have to rappel down them every time you want a beer? Or is it just the camera angle.

The ACC allows beer in their stadiums?

No idea. Too many Cardinal games. I forget beer isn't allowed everywhere.

I disagree. But I guess only time will tell... They'll do what Clemson did and bring seats closer to the M, but grass and rocks will remain forever, forever ever.
There isn't any value in making the hill into bleachers, you lose the one unique thing about the stadium without adding any value. It's actually a no brainer. We'll get our additional capacity taken care of with other additions.

And that second deck at Clemson does look extremely vertical. I'm a fan of it, love stadiums that still have it. A lot of old ice rinks had it, much better to watch games that way... they don't do it like that anymore though.

I'm not sure that it is actually that steep. It looks way over 45 degrees which is usually the max angle, at least in most new stadiums.
ETA: in this pic, it is easier to see the actual angle. It is still very steep, to be fair. The first pic just looks incredibly steep

I can't remember where I was, but I remember watching a game one time and it was so damn steep I was almost afraid to go to my seats. One bad step and you weren't going down just 10-20 feet. I do like the way it keeps everyone close to the field though mogray.

I know this has gotten a lot of mixed reviews. Personally I like it and think it's a step in the right direction. If anyone is interested here is a pretty interesting video about it HILL RENOVATIONS

I definitely like the fact the "M" is crisper. I will say though, I really don't give a damn that it's 100% Missouri grown grass because, well because I'm a St. Louisan and that's just how things are.

That made me laugh. I read that thread and my first thought was of when I moved to Columbia and had people from STL asking me what school I went to. I never knew anyone from a private school before that. "I just told you I'm from (insert small town). There was only one school. Stupid question".

Ah, the infamous St. Louis question - Where'd ya go to high school? And with your answer, they knew everything they'd need to know about you.
I used to love to surprise people and say Central. See the looks on their faces, then tell them I was from Cape Girardeau.
