Am I only imagining that the team seems to like Lock more than Mauk?

Don't know if "like" is the correct word but I get your point

think the chemistry looks better with Lock. The offense looked sharper to me when Lock played.

This certainly seems like the correct assessment

Lock is raw.

Mauk is like the kid that calls the Hail Mary on Madden every play and hits a random button for the pass.

If it works great, if not, no worries, he'll just keep doing it until it works.

But that wasn't the case today.......he tried to manage the game TOO conservatively.

Mauk is basically whatever the frick. Lock acknowledges he was immature and tried to be the hero in the last series trying to throw the long ball and in the meantime missed some underneath routes. But goes on to say at least I'm not stubborn about it and can accept and learn from it.

Mauk seems to have an attitude, perhaps because he knows Lock is more talented and his days as starter are likely numbered. Maybe he gets this season, maybe he gets overtaken. But he definitely doesn't seem like the focused, mature leader the young team needs.

I remember a few years ago Mauk was invited to the famous qb camp in Cali where James Franklin went after his junior and Mauk said he didn't need to go. Pinkel-type arrogance!

Gabe DeArmond @GabeDeArmond
Maty Mauk on being booed: "If that's how they feel, that's how they feel...That's why they're in the stands and I'm on the field."

Brothers standing up for Mauk saying booing isn't ONEMIZZOU. I can respect that type of response.

As Mizzou fans you should never boo anyone on this team. Regardless of how the game is going or how someone is playing. That's not ONEMIZZOU"

I have to agree with him. I hate to see any player booed. They are kids/young men, and student athletes, not professionals. It doesn't reflect well on fans to boo our players. Support their efforts. Booing isn't going to magically make them play better, and it could get in their heads and make things worse.

Expectations should be high, though, that it gets fixed, or personnel changes should be made.

I completely agree that I don't care for the booing either. i might think Mauk is douchy but so are fans that boo a kid that is being paid only a portion of their value.

Personally, I would never boo my team. As the boos were occurring today I sensed that some were directed at Maty, by the fans who want to see Lock play, but in general it felt more about the offense as a whole, including play calling and execution. There were boos on run plays too.

I think Mauk is just frustrated and trying to do whats worked for him in the past.

He knows his coaches want him to throw over the short middle some, but when he does the pass typically gets swatted down by a tall DLineman. He's bad at telegraphing where he's going to throw it and his short frame and low angle of throwing attack don't help either.

For myself, I have to wonder, how well did this work during camp or the week before in practice and why is it not working now or why is it expected to work on gameday if it didn't work then?

UCONNs defense was giving up the screen to the WR every play. I'm not sure why Mizzou didn't stay on that play.

The dump off to the RB was open all day as well. Whether it's coaching or Mauks nature to not take those, that needs to change.

Lock's primary pass this season has been to just throw it out in the flat. But other than his interception, just about every drive has moved at least to the edge of FG range.

I think the mistake was for Mauk to respond to the booing question in the way he did. That makes it seem like the crowd was booing him, which I don't believe was the case. I think they were booing because Pinkel keeps trying the same thing looking for a different outcome, and we all know what that's the definition of.

the difference to me seems to be that Lock is reading where his receivers will be, while Mauk is just reacting to where they are.

That's a fair assessment. The pass to Hall is a great example. Hall had to go backwards 2-3 yards to catch the ball. He gained 3 on the play. Better ball placement results in a 5-6 yard gain.

I'd like to see the stats on the screens and dump offs. Seems lock delivers the ball quicker allowing them to get 6-8 yards. Mauk is slower and floats it and it seems we get 1-2 yards
