Sounds as frustrated with the offense as the rest of us. Witter may have a concussion to go along with Hansbrough's ankle. Hunt and Steward are still slowed by injury and apparently Abbington isn't much of a consideration.

RB is a mess and the OL isn't helping matters at all. We went to the well on that QB draw too many times and I'm going to guess UCONN took notice. I doubt it will be as effective next week. Need to sit Hansbrough this week and take our chances. No practice or game time until Kentucky.

This wouldn't surprise me, but my expectations are limited. If either freshman was lighting the world on fire, they'd already be on the depth chart. Hopefully Dougherty can produce if he gets into a game.

Meh, I don't know about that. I think having 5 other scholarship RBs is more the reason Doherty was sitting than anything. He's also north of 200lbs and physically ready to play.

I hope they do it and I'm excited to see if he can do anything for us.

remember Henry Josey could barely break into the two deep, and needed injury's to help him get a "chance". This staff has not always seen the obvious before, in fact they're actually pretty good at missing it.

if Steward and Abbington could use "game experience" then why for fuks sake is Hunt, a senior walkon out there? If he's an SEC RB than I'm gadam ballerina.

Doherty can't be worse than what we've seen.

I'll ask a question here that went nowhere on TB... Does anyone recall Missouri using any H-Back formations in the past? Playing Culkin or Hunt in a role of lead blocker / blitz pick-up / outlet receiver could do wonders for both the shaky running game and offensive line.

instead of that, or in conjunction, maybe try something that's worked in the past.

Put Reese or Blanton in slot, basically run a 2 TE overload, and get some big targets out there crossing in the middle, assuming either of them can catch the ball, we used to do that pretty well with Egnew, Coffman and Rucker.

They've been trying to "fix" Mauks mid range game by moving Nate Brown or Wingo inside, which is just taking away their speed and athleticism in one on ones out on the edge, where it is needed. If you watched Browns HS film, he's a boss at running to the endzone, doing a spin jump move and skying for the ball. We need to work to their strength, instead of trying to "adjust" the rest of the team to fix the hole in Mauks game.

nope, he can't, and outside of Hanbrough who has done much of anything running the ball, Mauk up the middle seems to be the next best thing.. Steward looks like he's moving fluid and pretty well on his feet, none of our RBs are going anywhere unless the line happens to throw a block, that was obvious w/ Witter out there as well.

If Abbington and Steward are going to do anything at all at MU, it really needs to be now, this year, and if we are going to see them in a game, these first OOC's are the ones to do it. Hunt on his best day is not going to outrun Steward and he's now as hobbled as Hansbrough, can anyone explain what Gary is thinking by trotting a walkon out there?

I'm primarily talking about trying to get our anemic (non-Hansborough) running game going. But if the TEs come in motion to provide a defacto pulling guard on running plays, I'm for it.

I'm also thinking if blitz pick-up is one of the reasons they're holding off on playing Marques Doherty, an H-Back would help solve the problem.

ok, I didn't spell that out to well, right now we have pretty much no middle passing threat, Mauk completed all of 1 pass across the middle last night that I can recall. There is almost NO REASON for a defense to leave anyone to cover back in the middle, no reason to respect that part of our game, so there is no reason the defense doesn't crowd the box to stuff the run game with backers and safetys. So searching for ways to fix the hole in Mauks passing game is also part of fixing the run game is kind of where I was going.

Getting tired of analyzing all the problems we have that could get fixed by just putting Lock in.

Brown dropped a big pass down the left seam. Culkin was called for an OPI posting up in the middle of the field. Richard dropped a crossing route over the middle, that was then picked. Saw a couple of other routes that went over the middle. They just never went to those guys.

It starts up-front with Ricker and his NON-performing unit. You can talk about RB's all day, the OL is not executing. I've seen two games in-person. On their best execution, there is most always a leak. SEC teams will kill us without improvement.

Per Lucas Vincent on twitter: "Not saying Connor should spend less time filming him lifting for Instagram and more time on pass blocking but yeah I am."

Doherty was one of my students. I was talking to him the other day seeing if he was going to the Arky state game and he gave no sign that they were going to burn it.

Looks like he will travel with the team to the BYU game. Red shirts typically only go to one road game a year.

I was thinking the same thing. Neither Abbington nor Doherty could be worse than what we've seen so why not see what you have.

Over on another site they are tossing out Ryan Williams as the guy to have his redshirt burned. How I wish that we could have seen Zanders and Mauk at rb about right now.

Witter is the #22 RB in the SEC.

We do have that.

Georgia has 3 with more yards than our leading rusher.
Bama has 3 with more yards than our leading rusher.
UT has 3 with more yards than our leading rusher.
UK has 2 with more yards than our leading rusher.
A&M has 2 with more yards than our leading rusher.
OM has 2 with more yards than our leading rusher.

The good news is MSU is even worse off rushing the ball than we are.

IDK. That Oline is going to make QB's and RB's look bad no matter what

You have a point, but...

Witter is just awful between the tackles. He has no vision, and he runs very soft. He's ok on the outside, but between the tackles he is just bad.

Steward is very tentative and seems to still be way behind in terms of burst and cutting ability.

Hunt is limping all over the field.

We just don't have anything at RB right now. The OL is not helping sure, but this by far our biggest weakness.
