Frazier did not play
Newsom was out after a couple series
Acy had no stats
Howard had no stats

You'll note that there's no linebackers on your list except for Newsom and he didn't play after the first quarter.

Based on what I've seen on the field, I don't know if any of those are a correct answer. CUSA maybe. Not SEC though.

I'm just going to go ahead and leave this here again because you and your sidekick keep dodging the reason people are pushing back on you two idiots. Football savant indeed....

If the HC injecting himself into the room gets the front 4, the DE's in particular, to play their assignments, MU will beat Kentucky. Will you know what you are looking at when it happens? Or will you write it off as Kentucky sucks?

You dont have discussions. You post your opinion and call anyone dumb who disagrees with you. You have been defending what has been going on with this defense all season. Everyone here knows it, its not some secret.People hold you accountable for what you have said and, unsurprisingly, you try and call others out for dodging YOUR BS. Laughable.

Arguing your red herrings doesnt change that fact. Because people may only know basic concepts of a cover 2 over a cover 1/robber doest even remotely change the fact that you have been defending this shite and calling everyone dumb who could see the clown show for what it was/is. You dont like the push back? Dont be such an insufferable douche.

Miz Cou has been running around here acting the fool for two fricking years and now all of a sudden he is like fricking mother teresa.

You're both indignant assholes.

Frazier had 4 tackles vs Kentucky.

Newsom isn't an SEC caliber player because he got hurt?

Acy had no stats

Where in the stats does it show up when the field CB drives on the out when the #1 wr goes vertical forcing an incomplete throw to the boundary?

quote:

Howard had no stats

Where does it show up when the DE sets the edge spilling the play back inside to the SLB/MLB? Why he hasn't been playing is a good question.

I stated earlier in the thread that the depth at LB was an issue. Of note, Eric Beisel had 3 TFLs in his first start, the most of any LB on the team vs a P5 opponent this year. He would have to play more to show he can play sideline to sideline but he can get downhill and has value blitzing the A/B gap.

Thanks for the correction on Frazier. One place I looked listed him with no stats for the game.

My original question was SEC caliber players who played significant minutes. That's why I discounted Newsom. He went out in the first quarter and didn't return.

Of the SEC caliber players you listed, other than Newsom, there were no LBers. With no SEC caliber LBers, does a R&R defense stand a chance?

Of the backfield players you listed, more than one had no stats. And most of them were underclassmen. So underclassmen are getting significant playing time and aren't running up many stats. So while I appreciate your point that stats don't tell us everything, they do tell us something. Further underscoring my original point. We don't have the Jimmies and Joes to really win on defense - no matter what scheme we're running.

You know what's funny...UGA and UT fans are both bitching that they don't have the right recruits either. Everyone celebrates their recruiting class in February but when the season doesn't go right everyone swears they don't have the recruits. C'mon UGA and UT, how many 5 stars do you need?

I think DGB was the last time I celebrated a Mizzou recruiting class. We will have the 12th or 13th ranked class in the SEC.

I meant all the schools with the so called top 10 recruiting classes who swear they don't have the recruits. Mizzou does not qualify. Are we even top 50?

A better chance than running a Tampa 2 scheme with the players beyond Scherer on the chart. Honestly, MU has never had the MLB required to play the scheme to its potential and Scherer is the closest they have come in terms of the position. That is why the middle of the field was routinely been exposed with TEs/WR crossing routes. The MLB has to read the run first then make a 7-10 yd drop if he reads pass. There aren't many guys that have the size to take on the guards/FBs and the hips to get back on the seam in coverage after they have made 2-3 steps toward the line.

The R&R can put the LBs in the right place with a fast read or solid blitz call based on offensive tendencies. The LBs don't appear to be picking up the flow of the play side guard after the RB keys the direction. I thought the line, given the talent, would help the change over but it hasn't.

Be it player resistance or coaching, they haven't executed well at all.
