I'm excited this year and think that the defense will be improved overall this year simply because the same players won't have to play 80 plays a game and we will have players to rotate into positions this year and should finsih at least in the middle of the pack if we can pressure the QB better than last year and get any help from the safties (Only reason I'm
) In order of players we will get most production from
Kony Elay- 6'5 275 reminds me a little bit of Aldon Smith and look for him to make a great leap foward this season now that Richardson is gone and could work his way into becoming a late first round pick some have him already projected as an early second round pick
37 tackles 3.5 sacks
Matt Hoch Junior - is an underrated player from last year who played well throughout the season
36 tackles 2 sacks
Josh Agusta- 6'4 300 pounds our future first round pick on the defensive line this guy is mammoth and has the potential to be better than Sheldon man this guy is going to be mammoth next to Hoch and will not be taking any redshirt this year he immediately looks like one of our better defensive lineman ( See this video at about 1:49 mark man he looked dominant)LINK
Micahel Sam- 6'2 255 seems more like a LB but was playing defensive line last year a lot and did an ok job of putting pressure on the QB
22 tackles 4.5 sacks
Lucas Vincent- 6'2 3-5 pounds will probably be one of the rotating starters at defensive tackles (Matt Hoch and Vincient or Agusta) the staff was high on him last year before he tore his pectoral muuscle
Harold Brantly- 6'3 290 Pinkel won't stop raving about this guy and don't really know much about him seems like a project but if Pinkel likes him he must be a quality player
Nate Crawford- 6'5 285 don't really know if he is going to be a d-lineman or a LB has the size to play both but has put on a lot of weight since arriving at Mizzou
A.J. Logan- 6'2 310 pounds probably will be redshirted unless we start seeing injuries pile on again this year but projects as stout DT aganist teams that run the ball a lot (i.e. Georgia, Ole Miss)
Shane Ray- 6'3 245 saw time on the defensive line due to lack of depth last year and seems more suited moving back to LB because we aren't really that deep at that position
16 tackles 2.5 sacks
Markus Golden- 6'3 260 saw time at both LB and defensive line but looks better playing LB
10 tackles 3 FF's
the rest fall into the category of needing redshirts to grow and to keep exra year of elibility
Ricky Hatley- recruit from Texas
DeQuinton Osborne- 12th hour signing in 2013 recruiting class see big things in future for him
Marcus Loud- recruit from Texas that flip flopped like 5 times

I think all those guys who got a lot of playing time last year due to injuries will greatly benefit this year. The depth is much better than any year I can remember while some players may not be AS talented as the three stars who have came through there is still plenty of potential. Its hard to compare any player to an Aldon Smith though. The guy is one of the best pure pass rushers to get drafted in the last ten years. 33 sacks in 2 years is unheard of.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Logan redshirt. I thought he might have a chance to get some time this year, but fighting the injury puts him behind the 8 ball and I wouldn't be surprised to see them redshirt him. Particularly after hearing good things about Augusta and Crawford.

Augusta making it to Columbia was the best news all off season for me.
Im starting to get a little optimistic about this season...hope it doesnt end with a swift kick square to the nether regions.

Always does. Can you imagine the melt down if Mizzou loses an OOC game?

And I'll include myself in that group.

Sadly, yes. We've all seen it before. And it is NOT pretty.

If they lose the Indiana game, what a damn mess it will be. They'll be calling for a mid season firing.
DLine will be deeper, but hard to imagine better. When Sheldon was fresh, it was really a great DLine.
Defense is going to let us down a bit, hopefully offense is gonna put up 30 plus in a lot of games.

I dont know if Mizzou has ever had 1 single player who will be as important to the team as the starting QB(James Franklin) will be this year. There is so much explosiveness and talent on the offensive side of the ball this year but none of it will matter if the starting (Franklin) QB flops.

Very true. I'm not as big on Mauk as others. James will have to do it. Actually, I take that back. Read that Berk got down from 14 to 8 % body fat, that is significant. He's got the cannon we all know about, I really hope he ends up #2, but I don't think they'll have the balls to do it. I really think if he can get better at the short plays, he would be the best of the bunch by far.
We have have so many good backs and WRs.. it's nuts.

I'm worried about the defense. None of those d-lineman have done anything. Wilson is the only LB with a great deal of experience and he's above average at best. Gaines is great but who will be opposite of him? Ponder?

I really like the way the defense is shaping up...in 2 years. Next year has some potential, but you're right, much of it is untested.

Guess I was paying attention to the QB's and WR's when I watched this, but at about the :58 second mark, that late signee, Dequinton Osborne absolutely blows up an OLineman with a bull rush. Osborne looks like a beast as well for a freshman. Wasn't the story on him that he was a highly regarded recruit early on in HS, teams backed off because of grades, he hit the books really hard but Mizzou was about the only suitor that late in the game?

Sounds like Osborne is the most likely not to redshirt out of the freshmen. Logan had a chance to play before the injury. Augusta supposedly needs a lot of work in the weight room before he can realistically avoid the redshirt, but he has a chance.

Pretty spot on from what I've read/seen. Got to say, I really like the group as a whole as far as the future goes.
