Harris: It looks like we may have our next future NFL D-lineman. 4.5 tackles for loss in a single game is HUGE. Two sacks.

Was anyone really talking about this 2 star project DE at the beginning of the season? If I recall correctly, isn't he one of those guys who only started playing football in the middle of high school. Someone check my facts, but I think this is only his 4th year playing football at any level.

Brothers: We all knew he was good - overshadowed last year, maybe. He is absolutely everywhere. He's an exciting part of this team, and on his way to putting up ridiculous numbers.

Harris was expected to be Mizzou's best Dlineman this year.

Both he and TBJ are likely high draft choices in a couple of years.
If Brantley comes back healthy next season the defense should be ridiculous

Brothers and Harris...oh my! I'm very excited for them.

In my opinion the defense looks stout! And Odom is only in his first year. Imagine what he can accomplish with time.

Not sure how long Mizzou will have Odom here. 1 or 2 real good years and he's going to get a HC job.

In fairness the Dline was already here, Odom didn't do that.

But I agree, he mixes up the look just enough to keep the offense guessing and that's so much better than watching all that strait 4-3.

I was amused by the guy in the booth who made fun of Augusta diving for a ball he tipped up, what that fella doesn't realize is that's a play Augusta has actually made before. He's really a good athlete, if he could finish his conditioning and lay off the oreos he could be a great DT.

Odom doesn't strike me as a pure career climber, besides he's a "Mizzou guy", and I'm sure he realizes as 'Champ does, being a good DC and a good HC are two different things.

Who's to say Odom hasnt already been given the nod to suceed Pinkel if he stays here. I think that would appeal more to him than head coach at Illinois or some other struggling team at the time.

has anyone considered that Odom would stay at Mizzou to be considered for the head coach job when Pinkel eventually retires?

I just think it's incredibly premature that Mizzou fans would conclude that Odom would be gone in 2 - 3 years. That fricking ridiculous. He hasn't even proven himself at Mizzou yet.

I believe he'll be a great DC, but he first needs to prove himself before we all jump to conclusions that he'll be gone in 2 - 3 years.

LOL

this..

he's proven himself "TO" Mizzou but that's not the same as proving you are a top coordinator in the SEC, do that and you instantly become a hot name in the big boy coaching circles.

We haven't had a coordinator like that in the Pinkel era.. YET.

Memphis will be the obvious job. He helped build them from cellar to a top 25 team.

I absolutely believe Fuentes will get a job at a P5 this offseason. If that happens it's a great landing spot potentially for Odom. Carry on that success for another year or 2, and P5 schools will come for him. Maybe even Mizzou.

The whole DL is good. On the play we almost got the safety, it was all FR out there with Brady, TBJ, Moore, and Howard. We're going to be good for years to come at DL.

Calm down fellas and let's see how this defense plays against better athletes and tougher teams. BYU and then the SEC. Remember this has been against SEMO and Arky St.

Arky state actually has good skill players. I think their offense was a top 50 offense last year and some place had their WRs ranked as a top20 group nationally coming into this year. They put up over 400 yards on USC but made some terribly stupid turnovers. What the defense did vs ASU isn't worthy of calling them the best in the country but it is enough to show this defense is legit.

meanwhile Brothers named SEC Defensive player of the week:

per Morrison/Tribune
quote:

Kentrell Brothers' first 16-tackle game of the season didn't earn him SEC Defensive Player of the Week, but his second did.

The league named the Tigers' senior linebacker its defensive player of the week Monday after he put up 16 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions in No. 22 Missouri's 27-20 road win over Arkansas State on Saturday.

Both of Brothers' interceptions came in the fourth quarter against the Red Wolves, the second coming with 1:17 left to clinch the win. Brothers leads the FBS with 32 tackles through two games and tied Sean Weatherspoon for the most tackles over a two-game stretch in the Gary Pinkel era.

Brothers is the first Missouri player to win SEC Defensive Player of the Week since Markus Golden won it after the Tennessee game last November. Brothers previously garnered the award after his 10-tackle, one-interception performance in a win against then-No. 7 Georgia in 2013.

They certainly have a WR that can catch just about anything.....with 1 or 2 hands & get both feet down. Maybe playing on Sundays next year.
