Im very frustrated this year as well but.....this smells an awful lot like the Evan Boem situation. Coach Boem made Evan decommit if he was going to take visits. Nick might has been told the same by Coach Boem. Lets pump tue brakes a bit and see how shite plays out.

Im not taking away from your point SoCal. I think the winds of change need to start blowing in CoMo.

Holy Wow! This guy takes a sow's ear and turns it into a silk purse in about 4 years, sends 3 QB's to the NFL, puts together 40 wins in 4 years, and has his first losing/.500 season in 8 years and fans are screaming to fire him.

We started the season with an unbelievable number of injuries and a QB who was 75% at most with an untested backup having little o-line help.

We lost to #2 Bama, #3 Georgia, #4 Gators, #12 Cocks, Vandy (likely to end up 8-4), and a Syracuse team that just beat a top ten opponent. We should have had those last two.

I'll give the guy a chance to bring it back around.

I am welcoming of all new Mizzou posters, but I am now starting to seriously question if you are actually a fan.

I was like you, then I watched my DVR of the Syracuse game, I had to leave when it was 14-0 MIZ, happy to see they had turned the corner.

Then I watched how it all went down. I didn't even have to watch really, I knew how they lost, and I was right.

He's been there twelve fricking years and the DB's STILL DO NOT TURN AND LOOK FOR THE FOOTBALL! but that has nothing to do with coaching right? We could have RUN THE frickING BALL AND TAKEN TIME OFF THE CLOCK IN THE FOURTH QUARTER RIGHT!?!? Meh, no big deal, A GUY THAT HAS 200 frickING YARDS RECEIVING IS WIDE OPEN WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE AND CATCHES THE WINNING SCORE? Yeah, lets continue to print up t-shirts and give GP a fricking statue. frick you if you think that's ok.

GP has done all he's going to do, face it. I'm not knocking the guy, hell, he's the best I've seen at Mizzou in my lifetime. I'm just not afraid to admit when it's time for a change.

That time has come.

This is my point but nobody is supposed to mention those points. Mizzou was a backwater in college football when Pinkel arrived. He made the team viable enough that the SEC didn't laugh uncontrollably when Mike Alden called. He had the team ranked #1 in the country but obviously that's not good enough. We went to 3 Big12 Championship games.

Before the season he was ranked by Sports Illustrated as a top 25 football coach in the country. Now, he's not good enough for this team.

Missouri will long term be as good as South Carolina (took them years to get the talent to compete in the SEC), Tennessee and Georgia. They need the facility upgrades that are coming because of their recent success.

Only a fool thought MU would walk into the SEC and be better than .500 in the SEC with their backup QB starting multiple games. But after the fact, that's what some "fans" are demanding.

South Carolina has a superstar coach who has them performing very well, yet even he can't get them to an SEC championship victory. Even he can't get them to a national championship.

I wouldn't exactly say Pinkel is a superstar coach. Above average, perhaps even great, in the Big 12.

But the SEC is a completely different ball game. I think we're middle to lower tier with GP at the helm.

zoutigers,

While i can see where you are coming from, your line of thinking will be the type that ends up making the change when it is too late. It is obvious which direction the program is going.

Right now with their current recruits, MU isn't anywhere near a middle tier SEC team. Last time I checked (probably wrong) we have 9 four and five star recruits on the roster. In their 2010 class alone Tennessee had 13 of those athletes. That's in 1-class. It takes talent, MU has Ole Miss type talent.

I understand people that who want to argue to keep him say that this is all about this season, but its not. This has been happening for years now. Pinkel has gotten us to a stable level, but he wont take us further. Yes, he gets a chance next year but after that he has to go. Next year is his hotseat year.

We are typically an offensive team, but this year we rank at the bottom of the conference (12 or 13th). Now of course injuries play into that. But if we had an injury free year (which nobody has by the way) how much further up the rankings does that get us? Does that get us within the Top 5 of the conference, which is where we need to be? Idk, but I think it is a stretch. Especially being that the line has held up a little better than expected during games, injuries are not a real excuse for us.

We have won two North titles and have regressed since 2010. That is 2 years of regression (I would not consider 2011 as a good year but average/mediocre). So we have just gone from Good to average to terrible. If you feel like this program is progressing and not regressing, I would love to hear why. But the honest truth is, he is not the guy to get us competing for division and conference championships. I love the man but he isnt. Honestly, I dont know a school that would keep a coach for 12 years with no conference championships or BCS Bowl wins to hang their hat on. Pinkel would not survive at almost any other SEC school with the resume he has. And you can argue, "We arent them" but the fact of the matter is we compete with them. Its time to raise our expectations. This isnt the 1980's anymore. You dare to be great, no matter what you are starting from, and you never settle. Let him be known as the man that got us into the SEC, not as the guy who failed once we got in. Its time to let a new driver get us to the finish line.

Think about all of the coaches that will remain coaches in the SEC after this season is over. So to be fair, take out all hotseat coaches (Dooley, Joker, Chizik, John L.) and all the newcomers since we know nothing about them. Now rank them. Where does Gary rank? That should tell you all that you need to know.

And before anybody rebuts with "Who do you want", let it be known that I am in favor of him getting a hotseat, produce or leave season. But that is it.

too late for what? Too late to turn below average talent into an SEC championship? We've been in the SEC ONE YEAR.

Pinkel has repeatedly said that he wants to put us in the position to win championships here. When was the last time you felt like we were in a position to win any kind of championship? Those are his own goals. Like I said before, we are regressing and we really cant afford it in this conference. Its time to come to reality and accept what needs to be done so that we can be better in the future.

Mizzou was 10-2 in the regular season just two seasons ago.

Yeah, this slide has been a long time coming boys.

Zou tigers this year we were supposed to have a bump in recruiting because of our move to the SEC...we are currently 13th out of 14 teams. That is just not going to work

Hence why I wonder why several years ago would even be brought up. We won 10 games then and 5 games now. Which one do you think we are closer to?

Does anyone here remember GP's "Pyramid to Success"? It was something he talked about after the 2007 season. With a NC being at the top of the pyramid, he talked like a conference championship wasn't a goal, but just a stop on the road to the final goal. It was never heard of again after 2008, do you know why?

Because it never fricking existed in the first place!

GP knows he's built up enough cred with some folks that he can now coast and use excuses to explain 6 win seasons. He completely sold some of you a lemon, yet you refuse to trade it in. You'd rather drive around and toot your horn about shite that happened 6 fricking years ago.

It's over, he's done, read the writing on the wall. Next year will put us further behind the rest of the SEC when he returns.

Dude, getting into the SEC was not all about sports performance. It was about a television market the SEC didn't have yet. Mizzou had academics that were up to par with what they were looking for. We just happen to have been having decent football teams the last few years.

This coaching staff is in over thier heads with this level of football. It's one thing to play these SEC teams maybe once every so often, then it is to play this full schedule. This team is shell shocked and I am wondering if Pinkel knows how to fix it or not. He could help himself by finding a different OC for starters. Reguardless of how good a recruiter Yost is, he's proven he is not up to par to coach players at this level. He cannot adjust to defenses when they adjust to him. Point in axample is Syracuse.

I figured we'd be around .500 or better comming off of last year. So I guess I'm a fool. But look at what Sumlins done with aTm. Thats a coach right there. He's doing it with a freshman QB.

No, it's comming time that if Pinkel wants to finish his contract out here. He needs to make wholesale changes to his staff and it better be soon after the season ends. If he refuses, then he needs to go too.

I'm tired of e GP dick riders that prop him up based on what we were when he arrived.

I get it, he saved us from the CFB abyss, that being said, there comes a time for change no matter what someone's past accomplishments say.

The time has arrived for GP.

What a mess. I don't know that there's much choice right now. GP has one more year to get things fixed and at this point it starts with the staff and recruiting. Get out there and get these kids back in the fold. After Saturday, some changes need to be announced. Frankly, we don't want Tennessee's or even Arkansas' hand me downs this year. We're late getting into that hunt.
