Sad atmosphere. Mizzou "faithful" outnumbered by an easily 2-1 margin. Defeated energy from the crowd the entire game. Only a couple points in the second half did it feel like a game, and both times that promptly ended with a VanLeer shot violently smashing into the backboard.

Phillips- had a pretty typical Phillips game. Some good, some bad. For the most part just there. At one point he got into it with KA on the floor a bit and was pulled from the game.

VanLeer- the heady shooter who is neither heady nor a shooter.

Hughes- my god. Awful game. No idea how to flow within an offense

Puryear- played great. He's tough and reasonably skilled. If he were two inches taller he'd be really good. Stop shooting threes though

Woods- their center absolutely wore him out. Luckily Illinois didn't just keep throwing it down there because he was getting abused

Geist- best game I've seen him play. Brought really nice energy. Finished well. Played well on defense too

Barnett- played ok. His shot is just not falling though. A lot of talk about him needing to get it going towards the rim, but he looked pretty uncomfortable doing that tonight

Nikki- he's our best post defender and rebounder by far. Doesn't make him all that good, but he should play more

Walton- not sure why he didn't play more with Hughes and VanLeer being so brutal tonight

Smith- two fouls in 20 sec

Jackson- he should play more too. He rebounds and plays hard

Honestly, this team doesn't even look good in warmups. They shoot like 30%. Jackson is a good dunker though

KA says he's changing the starting lineup for next game.

I'd roll with

Phillips
Barnett
Jackson
Puryear
Nikko

CVL sends his blackmail info to the media if he doesn't start.

How many are worth keeping after a new coach arrives in April?

Puryear is really the only one that's for sure.
Phillips can be a solid player.
Hughes, KJ, Barnett, & Jackson are all athletic enough wings.
Keeping Nikko and Smith probably needed for size.

Depends on if we are talking idealistically or realistically. Realistically, you have to keep all or nearly all of them. A new coach isn't going to be able to bring in the numbers of players we need at this late of a date.

For me, none are a for sure or a must. I could live with a team that Puryear, Phillips and Hughes were on. Just not starting. The rest I'd prefer not. But again. That's in my ideal world.

I personally believe that KJ, Barnett, Jackson, Smith and Nikko are MVC type players.

They are all role players. Personally I hope the new coach goes all in on the 2018 class. Take some grad transfers for next season.

Also think CJ Roberts could come in and start next year, though it's far from guaranteed he ever come to Mizzou.

I'm anxiously awaiting the calls for the use of transfers by the same people who were infuriated by them three years ago.

Mizzou's history has had its share of transfers that were great here.
Haith went a little to transfer heavy, but taking some is a good idea.

Haith should have taken more transfers. He was trying to save his job and still didn't do it by only winning in his final year roughly the same number of games Kim has won in 2 and a half seasons.

Some of them are role players on P5 teams. Some should be role players for an NAIA team.

There are moments in almost every game where I think I've been transported to Brewer and I'm watching a pickup game.

I don't think that I'm being over-reactive when I say that I bet you could get a group from Brewer that could beat this team.

Assuming KA doesn't coach them too.

One of the wags on TB suggested a "You've got next" promo to sell tickets wherein when our team gets down by double digits, we pull 5 players from the crowd until the lead goes back to single digits.

Which would leave no one in the stands.
