This was the most perplexing part of the game for me. About midway through the 3rd quarter, I was wondering if a stomach bug has ravaged the whole team. Outside of J. Elliot, Bolton, and maybe Bryant, the whole team looked like they were moving through cement. Especially the O-line.
The running backs consistently got met by 1 or 2 defenders at the line on most plays.
Vandy created a pass rush on multiple pass plays with 3 down lineman.
Sad performance in all aspects.
You can see Bryant's talent and the possibilities, but you can also see he is not perfect. He needs time to consistently make good decisions, and the line did not give him that. The line did not give him breathing room with the running game, against a defense that had been gashed by UNLV!!!!

I thought they had it figured out after the OM game but this was just pathetic

I agree with you on the o-line performance in the running game. Our RB's had almost no chance to get past the LOS with defenders just plowing into the backfield.
The o-line wasn't as bad as you suggest in the passing game though. There are too many times to count that Bryant had plenty of time to make a decision and throw the ball, but instead just stood there holding it until the pocket finally collapsed. I put more blame on Bryant for the pass protection breakdowns. You've got to get rid of the ball!

Simms and Castillo both need to elevate their games and take the room over. Simms has had one game that I would grade comparably to his 2018 season.
This game tonight is going to depend on them being at their best.
