I would wait a few weeks before deciding how bad or good the RBs can be both this year and beyond.
Still think Witter can be a decent #2 back. He just needs to be more decisive
Walters, Steward, & Hunt are all dealing with injuries
Abbington, Doherty, & Williams are all new and will benefit from a year spent with Dr. Ivy.
As long as Hansbrough is healthy the run game will be ok.

You can't bring reason up in here!!

I agree with you Jagd. An extra year development is meaningless when he leaves. I was cheerleading earlier for pulling his redshirt.
Either he hasn't picked up the playbook which I don't believe or he's not as talented right now which is contrary to what we heard in camp

Bottom line is our #2 RB right now seems to be 1/4 of what our #2 has been for quite some time. He may be as good as Hans in their 2nd years but I don't think that is the issue or concern.

Yea that's really the big issue. The last two years there was no real drop off between the top backs.
2013-Josey/Murphy/Hansbrough
2014- Murphy/Hansbrough
This year there is a big drop off. Some of that is due to injury (Steward) some is guys just not developing.
During camp GP said that the freshmen getting looks would really depend on the progression of Walter coming big back from injury. He didn't want to only use Doherty for a couple games.
Although if the backs continue to struggle over the next game or two maybe that strategy changes.

let's face it, it's time to start throwing plates of spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks.
first off, Tyler Hunt, I have absolutely nothing against this kid, I love walkons, but he should be on the scout team, he would barely make the 2 deep AT SEMO for shits sake. Gary you aren't a genius for giving a walkon a schollie so you don't need to try and prove something by playing him, Hunt is never gonna be more than what he is and he won't be winning the SEC as anything but a practice player.
If that's not enough Hunt appears to be hobbled now, I'm thinking a hobbled white kid NOT named Tebow running the ball in the SEC, just no.
Whitter MAY amount to a decent backup but it hasn't happened yet, we can easily see the top end on him and unless a near miracle happens, he is a 3rd to 4th option kid who will get maybe 5 to 8 carries a week on team with a serious ground game.
Abbington is still in wtf land, he just doesn't resemble a 4star and doesn't yet seem to "get it" on this team, like Whitter he could come around and be a good backup, at some point.
Steward has been 99% back for what seems like half a year now, I sure hope that last 1 % gets here soon and makes all the difference. While he talks like he has all the confidence in the world he's gonna be wheelin and dealin, the staff sure doesn't seem to agree with that yet.
Walters is still a month away and is still the player that couldn't beat out Whitter last year. If you saw them practice, Whitter was hands down, very obvious to the naked eye, MUCH faster of the two.
Leaving us with Doherty, Williams and more walk ons.
Hansbrough may be a stud but he can't do this by himself, and if this were just a "rebuilding" season it really wouldn't matter that much anyway, but it's looking like we may actually have the Dline we need to compete for the East again this year.
Henson needs to put his foot down,, start slinging that spaghetti,,, and NOW.
