Cuonzo wants MPJ to the guy he was before the surgery, not just a slightly better alternative to CVL. The opening round of the NCAA tournament is 3 weeks out from being cleared to practice.
If your the coach that’s got to be the target date for having a 100% MPJ.

I get it. But I question how helpful it will be if the 1st time playing together is in the first round of the tourney. As good as he is, the players have to gel with him for him to succeed and that's a large task with virtually no time playing competition together.

I doubt that would be the first game. If he plays Saturday the NCAA tournament first round would be the 3rd-6th game for MPJ depending on how Mizzou does in the SEC tournament.
There’s still time for him to get his legs and feel for the game before the tournament.

My response was to your statement that the first game of the tourney in 3 weeks has to be the target date

Yes the target date to have MPJ 100%, not the target date for his first game.
That would give him a few games to get back into the game.

Cuonzo said that today would only be MPJ’s 3rd real practice since getting cleared. I think he plays once he gets some of his legs back.

So you’re saying they would play him at less than 100% in his first game?

No 100% healthy does not 100% as a player.

75% of MPJ is better than 120% of CVL

Cuonzo isn’t bringing MPJ back before he’s ready

MPJ will be back, Maybe this weekend if he’s ready

Eh, I bet he plays Saturday.
It was always reasonable to expect that they'd want to get a few practices under his belt before he saw game action. I thought maybe the Vandy game, but that was probably a bit early.
Zo basically just said it was up to MPJ in the latest media day. I think he plays.

Porter isn't playing tonight.

People hanging on to the hope that he plays and getting pissed when he doesn't are missing out on the real story IMO.
"I bought season tickets so I could see him play"
Instead they got to watch last year's squad plus a transfer and two freshman pull off an outstanding turn around.
fricking pussies

You called it. Congrats. I wish he didn't make the "maybe I'll play in the postseason" comment. I don't know why he can't admit that he doesn't want to comeback. You're a guaranteed top 5 pick in the draft this year. We get it. It's cool.
